Anyone been to Belguim and know any good places to stay for the GP?

I've been looking about on the net and already found this advice which was quite useful (in case anyone else is wondering the same as me) : http://blog.thomascooksport.com/sport/the-spectators-guide-to-the-formula-1-belgian-grand-prix/

Anyone got any other cool places to stay or tips about travelling to Belgium?

Cheers!

We've been a couple of times.

First time we stayed at the Elephant (http://www.francorchamps-camping.com/) which is on the Eau Rouge side of the circuit, it was ok, not the luxury promised, basically a field (on a hill) with 6-8 temporary showers and some loos. Not the best campsite ever, but also not the worst. Good location, no frills.

Second time we stayed at "Eau Rouge camping" (http://en.eaurouge.nl/)which is a proper camp site with permanent facilities. It has a bar, food is served (Burger & fries only.) It's a great site and the atmosphere was superb, some Dutch guys even brought a bar and F1 simulator, we had a ball.. the downside is it's at the Stavelot end of the circuit and if you want to go to the Thursday pit walk you have to walk around the outside of the whole circuit to La Source which is the only gate open on the Thursday. The rest of the week they open the Stavelot gate and theres a shuttle bus that runs free and often to the track. .. but it is away from the main action and we felt a bit "out of it" ..

We've Not tried the official camp sites, this year we're near the Racing Hotel (http://www.francorchamps-racing-hotel.be/en/home-29.php) which might be a bit rambunctious but we're prepared to take the leap! it's closer to the circuit in the heart of the maelstrom. Full review after the event..

But wherever you stay, do go, it's a fantastic atmosphere, just take something waterproof and if going General Admission get to the circuit by 8am if you want a decent vantage point..

This is discussed in another thread (was on page 4 I think), there are 3 of us staying here

http://www.campingf1.com/events/belgian_grand_prix

compared to the campsite I stayed on at Le Mans, this looks luxuary. From the other thread, I think it may be a bit of a PH gathering.....
