Merc engines also sound a bit different.
Not sure if posted but the Mercs have a major engine upgrade. Looking very very good for them and everyone else will be blown into the weeds.

I was there last year. It was a bit run down but that was actually part of the charm of it and added to the sense of it being a historic track.

I agree though that the complicated system for purchasing food and drink was frustrating.

Being wiser to the food and drink situation, if I was to go again I would buy a cheap cool box and take all my own in.
I'd like to go again and I would stop in bergamo again, really nice place.

Are McLaren taking out the new spa engines to put in the newer engine that was updated for Monza?
According to Sky they have taken the Spa/Monza spec engines out and are putting the Hungary spec units back in...

Can't believe the amount of coverage McLaren still gets, they are basically Minardi with PR spin these days.
They're a good story, though, everyone loves watching a trainwreck. Plucky underdog scraping a good solid last on a shoestring budget doesn't have the same sense of unfolding catastrophe.

Would you prefer they showed more coverage of Lewis? wink;)

Except they have a very long standing racing heritage with multiple wins. It was the same when Ferrari were in the doldrums in the 80s and early 90s. Still got extensive coverage.

There's also the fact that they've got 2 WDC's driving for them- their wage bill alone must be close to Manor's entire budget for the season.

Looking like another boring one-stopper. A minimum mandated 2-stop regulation would help ensure that races at great circuits like Monaco, Canada and Monza are not so processional.

The controversy caused by VET's attemp at a one-stop 2-weeks ago should have been the right incentive to implement Pirelli's Prime 50%, Option 30% rules.

I shall be waiting for the BBC highlights show on Sunday. sleep

Well Toto thinks they have a reliability risk with their new engines. At one point I thought Lewis had about 0.4 Secs on Nico, wondering if he then started sandbagging later or if Nico sorted it out...

Max did rather well to keep that car going I thought.

Some drivers look like they are pushing the limits of the track and bouncing hard over the kerbs too.

Also weather is for rain tomorrow for Quali, that will mix it up a bit too!

I think part of the issue is that they have to use both tyre types. If the tyres were designed differently so the faster tyres had a shorter life and the slower life a longer life it could then be mandated that you can only use one type (other than wets). Using the faster tyres you'd have to make at least one more stop so it would lead to different tactics

Looking at Lewis' face post practice interview, he has another few 10ths in reserve. And Nico can't work out how he got the first 2/10ths ahead.... He is studying Lewis' lines...

With wet weather predicted as well, I suspect Lewis is going to take Pole with a 0.4 second gap to Vettel..... wink

I was quite surprised by nico's plain admission there. I didn't buy into the whole "Lewis has broken nico" stuff but after a couple of weeks off swanning around with pop stars, Lewis comes back and Nico has to study his on board footage to figure out how to drive the track quicker?

I make no apologies about being a Hamilton fan but he is on another level when it comes to speed-a fantastic spectacle to watch if you're an F1 fan.

I would have agreed with you until he was up against a certain peddler who had the odd World Championship to his name and he was equal to him....

And then we have the Poles from last year...

Don't get me wrong he is not a superstar racer like Lewis/Alonso/Vettel, but he is pretty good....

I would put him in the same (talent) camp as Button/Coulthard/etc. the only difference is neither of them would resort to hitting their opposition.

They are good, but they last the 'something' Vettel/Alonso/Hamilton have
