Vaud, I wouldn't disagree with Lewis still having room for improvement.

He didn't refuse the radio request, he asked for clarity as the messages were slightly confused - 19 qualifying laps is clear, it means balls out.

Lewis was told to push hard but don't take risks, he asked what that meant as he was taking risks. The team then said carry on as you are (ie to push hard AND take risks - which wasn't what they were saying originally and I'm still my sure is what they really meant).

Where does the idea that he challenged the instruction come from? He said on the slow down lap the last few laps weren't cool.... After he had executed them, hardly a rant. And the team agreed.

I think the difference between the Schumacher example and Hamilton on Sunday is that the situation between Brawn and Schumacher would have been discussed in principle before the race so would not have come as a surprise for the driver and didn't need an explanation because the reasons were understood. On Sunday Hamilton was asked to do something which was unusual to say the least as it opposed normal instruction for that part of the race and situation, and no explanation was given. In addition to the psychological aspect of driving at 100% at the end of a race there would have been the natural consideration of why? We've all said we were thinking it, surely Hamilton would also have been doing so, considering possibilities and trying to use all senses to understand if it was a potential car problem - pretty tough I would imagine!
Fair points.

Amazing weekend to finally go to the circuit that I've watched on TV for decades. Great Atmosphere and would love to go back again soon.

Took a few photos from where we were sat at the first chicane and around the circuit (and on it) after the race ha finished.

Great pics- On image 121142AA and the next one(looks familiar?) - was that part of a old race track there? I 'think' I've seen it in old footage?
That's the old banked section iirc correctly it's just inside the the new track alongside the first chicane.

Good pics there. I was at Monza 3'years ago now, it's a long run from the chicane to podium isnt it haha. Worth it though.

A poor decision by Merc management?

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/120693 The electric wick was turned up to give Rosberg a chance at the overtake.

Or was it done at the request of Rosberg? The report is a bit ambiguous on the point "Toto Wolff admitted Rosberg had been given clearance to push the engine harder to chase Vettel".

I'm not sure why the word 'admitted' is used.

It was a borderline decision of course, with it blowing just a couple of laps from the end, but were the extra points, or rather the chance of the extra points (would Vettel have just moved over?), worth it?

that's misleading, was no the ERS/etc that was turned up, it was the IC engine.

(there is a FIA limit on the ERS system, so no wick turning up allowed).

Admitted will just be stuck in there by the journalist - usually it's just some quote after a question has been asked rather than the interviewee just bringing it up themselves.

It's easy to say a poor decision - but there will have been lots of times things have been turned up and there was no issue. It's just a risk you have to take if you want to be the best. Rosberg needed to do something, and so he was in the place where you need to take risks to try and catch up. But in the end I don't think it will make a difference - can't see Hamilton being caught this season even if Rosberg got 2/3rd (unless the new engine has big issues and starts popping all the time, which is pretty unlikely).

Obviously we don't know all the considerations, but even when he was closing towards the end, I wondered if he was being encouraged to do so in case LH was banned. I was wrong, as Rospberg's pressures were even lower, but with an engine that was on its 7th(?) race, I thought he would be cruising towards the end, nursing it. It was just 3 points after all.

By the way, does anyone remember a blue flag being waved at a Force India, perez is has to be, that was in front of Raikk on the track and in the race late on in the race?
