Unless Mercedes cave, I expect Red Bull will be gone next year, unfortunately.

Oh blimey. Just heard in commentary that Horner might "do a Brawn" and take over Red Bull.

Imagine that; Horner GP.
Nah, it would be Arden surely?

It would be called whatever the "money" wanted it to be called. He'd have to find a source from somewhere.

Surely RB knew Merc and Ferrari were likely to say no to an engine deal considering how strong the rest of the team is. I wonder if they have intended to pull out this whole time and are simply blowing all this smoke to make it seem like they were forced out instead of deciding to just walk.

Why? Red Bull are looking at a $500M liability if they pull out.

Gifting the team + $50M running costs if Horner takes on the liabilities could work. Call it Arden/Horner until he gets a sponsor. He could raise a loan and I'm sure Bernie would lend him money at a favourable rate (to Bernie)

Source of what......money? Its obvious, it would come from red bull, this way DM saves face and actually carries out his threat and leaves, Horner buys the team but retains red bull as the title sponsor i.e. Arden redbull, everything and everyone still stays the same.

Maybe just maybe Horner is willing and quite happy to race with a 2015 engine knowing its still years ahead of a Renault, DM not so but while DM owns the team then horner has to do and say as he's told!

Heck I'd even go far as to say DM wouldn't actually sell it but rather pretend (to the media) he sold it, DM takes a back step while horner runs the new/old team with a buy sell clause (to horner) after a period?

It could actually work.

Didn't Brawn get the Honda team for £1, and the running costs of the team paid for a year.

Given the prize money RB are due, Ginger Winge F1 or Yeah/No Racing would have a budget, DM could get out of F1 without any fines to Bernie. Heck Bernie might even chuck in some money to keep the team on the grid.

If DM has lost all interest in F1, then he'll be looking for the cheapest and quickest way out.

The only problem I could see is who would supply torro rosso with engines, Arden/horner gp would make the maximum of 4 for ferrari, could DM renegotiate a Renault supply to TR?

As I type its being reported that RBR are to open talks with Renault, OK its in the mirror and its probably stating the obvious but it could be possible.

...unless Christian Horner goes to Ferrari, of course. He is still a very smooth operator in F1, afterall

So the source of the money is DM and he either decides whether he wants the RB brand to be associated or not. Honda decided not with Brawn, but DM might think differently.

If DM decides he's out, the only option remaining for Horner is Ecclescake behind the scenes keeping the team in the game, pulling whatever strings are required. Not to be discounted given their close relationship.

But all that depends on how seriously pissed off DM is and whether he wants to play with his toy elsewhere - team personnel et all. The idea that he might bid for the whole thing isn't that far fetched - but what he then does with it if he succeeds is anyone's guess.

Ah, sorry, I thought that you might not realise that adding a signature on PH makes everyone else think you're a tt, but now I understand that you are a tt.
laugh

I also possess an AW11 4AGZE but don't feel the slightest need to tell everyone in every post I make

blame rests solely upon one person, and one person, alone: Mr. Christian Horner.
No, on this I disagree. It's not his fault his bosses have slated Renault - what was he to do - say his bosses were wrong and undermine them?
