Looking forward to hats in Mexico.

Well, they'll have big ole Stetsons in America, quite possibly sombreros in Mexico. Then what? Bowler hats at Silverstone. Maybe berets in France (oh, hang on a minute,..)

Looks like the stewards disagree with you also.
I wholeheartedly agree with the stewards. It was an avoidable collision that instant I saw it but I sympathise because it was the last lap. Going for lunge is one thing whether it ends up as wheel banging or wheel to wheel or a collision is a different matter.
It was the last lap for Bottas and Williams too, they were on for a well deserved podium. There's a difference between pushing the track limits to make up a bit of time and taking out a fellow competitor.

Johnny Cecotto just crashed at the same place as Grosjean, he's ok too. But it proves the point that if one car can crash there so can another, Russian gaffa tape must be strong.

I wonder what Putin makes of Hamilton.
much as we might mock, at least he turns up to his countries race, when was the last time a brit PM turned up at Silverstone?
I think it's great. It shows the importance of these events to Russia.
....or the importance of Global TV to Putin wink

Now that was an exciting race.
after NR retired there was no race. Only interesting moment was KR'd drunk driver moment at the end.
Not sure if serious!

What did you find exciting apart from the moments he mentioned?
you do understand what a race is?
I am bemused as to why anyone should criticise the race. There were exciting overtakes. There was, as Carro pointed out clearly, strategic differences that livened up the final stages.

It was classic F1, although not a classic race. There was a start: the first few laps were close and there were some attempts at overtakes, incidents and more. In the middle section we had those who were out of place moving up, then there was a bit of reliability, accidents and more. Then, as always, there was the last bit, in this case it going on for longer than normal.

Good race, without being special. Had NR stayed on track there might have been trememdous interest at the front, but it was a race for second for a while, and the lower places.

Surprised there wasn't a crippled dog for Putin to tend to in the room, along with a few babies to kiss held up to him by their mothers in tradition Russian dress.

Putin takes Lewis on his lap of honour after the race (courtesy of Russian media)

If I were the PM (just imagine that), I'd be at Silverstone. And Twickenham, and Wimbledon.
too right!

It's hardly a massive imposition and as leader, you're supposed to support your country!

Christ, demand more from your life! Did you think the M Shoemaker years were fascinating? The world has moved on.

I just thought it was a typical 2015 F1 race. Hamilton buggers off into the lead, while there are some decent battles down the pack.

I have watched F1 since 1992, and people have always moaned about the racing. It's never had moto 3 levels of overtaking/madness, sometimes you just have to sit out the lulls in the race till something happens.

Just got to pray that the opposition can get somewhere near the Mercs next season, as the domination is getting tedious, and even I'm starting to think about not watching races.

when all said and done, it was not a bad race to watch, stuff going on all though and if you ignored the leader, the rest was very much up for grabs.

Yes, not a classic race, but hardly the worst.

Everyone else says it is a normal pretty ok F1 race. The face that we had the Shoemaker years, Red Bull years, now Mercedes years shows it's just pretty normal for F1.

Have to agree with others, thought it was an interesting race without being super special. As mentioned this year is useless for the racing for 1st place, but behind that some of the racing has been pretty good (if for mixed strategies, driver stupidity or unreliability).

Kimi's car looked like a firework after the crash.

I am not a christ.

During the Ferrari dominance, with just the one driver, I ran a fanzine site and there was lots to write about as some of the circumstances were fascinating. There were interesting races for the lower positions. The dreadful politics - in which I predicted that leaving Ecclestone in total charge was the biggest risk F1 had ever suffered - was the main downer but generated a great deal of interest.

The lowest of the low was the one car USA GP. We've moved on from that.

If you don't take an interest in the sport as a whole, read up on it, see what Autosport has to say (this week some interesting stats between NR and LH) you will miss the importance of an overtake, you will miss so much.

To take something right at the bottom, the reincarnation of Button is of minor interest, but is of interest. And such things go on through much of the grid.

It requires a bit of work, but it is well worth it.

Just watched it. It was ok, some good scraps from p2 downwards.

Perez as driver of the day.

Sainz needs a word for the recovery post brake explosion, that was way over ambitious. And dizzy in early laps? Yikes.
