I think the only other mystery from that period is why anyone was mystified about Hamilton wanting to get out of there.

He didn't want to get out. Lauda persuaded him to leave.Since it seems to bother you for some reason - (I think) I heard it on Radio 5's Chequered Flag podcast in an interview with Hamilton. He said he was approached by Lauda but his response was 'why leave McLaren, I'm winning races?', 'why join a team that finished 5th?'. I can't remember what he said Lauda's response was.

But Lauda was true to his word

"When asked about the quadruple world champion and likely 2016 title challenger Sebastian Vettel, Hamilton said: “I have a lot of respect for him, but it’s difficult to assess how good he really is.
“He’s never been in a team with someone like Fernando Alonso, but always with people like Mark Webber, who was not on his level, and Kimi Raikkonen, who is no longer at the peak of his performance,” the Briton added"
^ Does he ever stop? He was one of the ones moaning about Redbull dominance a couple of years back and now HE has an even more dominant car he is letting it go to his head slightly. “He’s never been in a team with someone like Fernando Alonso, but always with people like Mark Webber, who was not on his level, and Kimi Raikkonen, who is no longer at the peak of his performance,” the Briton added"
I think Button might have a point when he said "He's (Lewis) pretty quickly becoming arrogant."

Hmmmmmm... but once again he's right. You might not like it but Lewis's first teammate was double world champ Alonso... Vettel hasn't ever shared a team with such a stellar talent. No disrespect to Webber or Kimi. In any case, Vettel is awesome and deserves his WDCs ... but that doesn't make Hamilton wrong in what he says.
I agree, and one the evidence of 2014 Ricciardo is a better driver than Vettel.Gassing Station | Formula 1 | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
