last derailment of this thread but...Probably not the best meme to use
[John Wayne] "With a lot of blacks, there's quite a bit of resentment along with their dissent, and possibly rightfully so. But we can't all of a sudden get down on our knees and turn everything over to the leadership of the blacks. I believe in white supremacy until the blacks are educated to a point of responsibility. I don't believe in giving authority and positions of leadership and judgment to irresponsible people."

I always admired Mercedes attitude towards their drivers ('let them race' and no #1), but it's become clearer than ever lately that the risk is very carefully managed, with regards to the way the lead driver in the race gets pit priority and they often run them to exactly the same strategy.
Obviously it's the fault of the other teams (or the rules) for not being in the mix which highlights this, but it would be nice if the two sides of the garage could run entirely independent races, especially so since they wrapped up both championships.

Absolutely - there is no way that anybody could actually beat Lewis Hamilton in an identical car.

It is generally thought that Hamilton and Alonso are the best drivers.Well we have established that Button is better than Hamilton and although there is one race left it looks like Button will get more points than Alonso.
It looks like Button has been the best driver during the last six years in F1 so he must be a living legend.
You have to disregard Vettel as it was Newey who won the four titles and he is not a driver.
I will just go and put my tin hat on.

Doesn't that suggest that Button is the better racer? As Hamilton started ahead of him more often, but Button got more podiums and points.
On the other hand, Button had to finish more races to end up more or less at the same points tally as Hamilton, which suggests Hamilton's innate "skills" are pegged slightly higher. How is racing defined?
Well, there's many factors that influence results, many down to chamce. Crashing into Massa every other race does not help. That would be my 20:20 hindsight retrospective mega armchair internet drivel verdict.
Who would you expect to have won in Brazil? The driver who wanted the win to prove to himself, and others that he could finally get ahead of his highly competitive world champion team mate, or the driver who turned up a couple of days late to the track after crashing his Zonda and (understandably to my mind) partying for days on end as a result of the pressure being lifted from his shoulders.

Someone commented that since the higher tyre pressures have come in (I can't remember which race or where), Hamilton has lost out to Rosberg.
Lower tyre pressures = more grip right?
might be something in that with regards to the driving styles etc.
Ive just been watching TK interview LH on the initial Abu Dhabi "Teds Notebook"Lower tyre pressures = more grip right?

(Not something I usually tune into)
Ted was asking him about what happened at Singapore and afterwards to which Lewis volunteered tyre pressures but then went on to talk about "other stuff" with the car being more important and it was this which Ros had adapted better to
It was all a bit vague but seemed to suggest it wasnt actually the tyres which has thrown him - but I guess that could just be a red herring to put the opposition off
Any ideas?

He (Lewis) seemed so uncomfortable in that interview. Zero eye contact, looking anywhere but at the camera. v. strange(Not something I usually tune into)

Did you see Rosberg claiming he knew nothing about the changes?

Bendy floor? Newly exploited loophole they don't want to draw attention to?
I heard somewhere they had started heating the wheel rims which conversely heats the tyres and increases the pressures. One of Lewis's advantages AIUI was/is his ability to crack on with it on cold tyres. Has this opportunity been removed?Gassing Station | Formula 1 | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
