the best ever F1 driver?

That simply isn't true. Yeah, Barrichello was ordered out of the way in Austria two years in a row, but Schumacher didn't have a team mat that was "very clearly number 2".

If that had any more holes I think you could strain tea with it eg* McLaren MP4/4 only 14th most dominant car of all time? The 1952 Ferrari nominated the most dominant in the hands of Farina but only the 9th most dominant in the hands of Ascari? I think its a triumph of number crunching over observable facts. But its a good bit of fun to have a look at the graphs and just who has more where driver is allegedly the bigger influence.

How about the great Auto Union cars? Surely the best F1/championship cars of all time?
Great cars but pre F1 and pre the World Championship.Although in the 1930s there was a European Championship which included Grand Prix races and other types of events - such as hillclimbs.
Wouldn't that be a great idea for modern drivers - a true DRIVER'S championship where they competed in Grand Prix, a couple of Sports Car Endurance races, a rally or two and a few hill climbs thrown in.
Exceptionally nervous car by all accounts, I recall? Bernd Rosemeyer was the only person to truly get the best out of the pre D Type version, which even then took another all time great to master in Nouvalari (there's another great that doesn't qualify for this thread - anyway, back on topic)
