If he just announced secrets like that he'd probably never be told any again.
If Aston are coming into F1 in some capacity (safety cars, sponsorship, whatever) then they'll need the hoopla that surrounds it to make it worth their while.
Won't be safety cars (sadly) already seen a pic of the amg safety cars being unloaded. Sponsoring manor when it could of been force India seems an own goal... Maybe they'll end up on the Williams? If Aston are coming into F1 in some capacity (safety cars, sponsorship, whatever) then they'll need the hoopla that surrounds it to make it worth their while.

FFS, Saward is getting worse at this stuff. "I know thing it I'm not telling". Well say it or stfu. Grasping for attention like the fat kid in a playground should be below a journo of Joe Sawards ability.
He's been doing it for years and it is pretty annoying! I seem to remember ranting about it a couple of years ago on here.l354uge said:
So...Aston Martin on a red bull car...
Yep, http://www.espn.co.uk/f1/story/_/id/14992608/aston...Wow! Zomg!!!1one!!
A few stickers on a red bull. Glad I know that Joe knew about it before knowing about it was cool.
Not sure that I get the link between a kids fizzy drinks brand and "classy" Aston though? Maybe they have sold more of those truly god awful multi coloured vantages than I'd hoped.

As a motorcycle rider, I think this was a bit of a stupid thing to do:

Point taken, but sometimes Joe will mention that he knows but can’t tell in order to make the point that there’s a real story there, rather than just hot air. It does mean you have to trust that he himself isn’t just making stuff up, but as I’ve been following his writing for a couple of decades and generally found him to be an honest reporter of the facts, I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt.
Absolutely. Along with James Allen (as a blogger) I think they both have high integrity and reporting standards. Some Gump said:
You honestly saying that people over 25 drink red bull?
Their core demographic is teenagers, with a sideline in students to mix with vodka. Aston't core demographic is north of 40.
I know plenty of people over 25 who drink it.Their core demographic is teenagers, with a sideline in students to mix with vodka. Aston't core demographic is north of 40.
I am not really a fan of the brand (I think its too ubiquitous in sport now) and I think their product and their ilk are foul smelling and tasting. I also think that they act like spoiled children when stuff doesn't go their way - but so does Ferrari, so does Nico, so does Lewis Hamilton (I am sure someone will be along to tell me that's because its never his fault as Lewis is practically perfect in every way).
However, and this can be seen on the main Red Bull/Aston thread as well - the endless, pointless 'fizzy drinks company' drivel launched at the F1 team - taken to a new level with the addition of the 'childrens' bit above.
It's like the person over there who said it's all about 'Newey and Aston Martin - they'd be better off going to Williams for technical input'.
Why?!? Do you think the Red Bull Racing factory is staffed by people from the bottling plant, organised by Adrian Newey? Its botty water of the first order! It's driven purely and only by people be-littling Red Bull Racing because they think calling them a fizzy drinks company and saying that 'an. other engineer' has better engineering because they are named for a bloke and not a company somehow gives them 50 petrol head points.
It grinds my gears and I don't even particularly like Red Bull (in any context)!

Poor Lewis. He really just hasn't mastered the art of rebelling with sufficient insouciance to pull it off.http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2016/mar/17/lewis...
Had he done this and said "My answer is, 'I make my living driving race cars at 150mph+ whilst adjusting brake balance and talking to my pit crew every day. I think I can manage to take a selfie on a mobile sofa...'" then he would have seemed irresponsibly cool and Hunt-esque.
Instead he just sulks like a petulant baby. Close, but no cigar.
PS - I did the same as him riding a Vespa in Holland once but never got pulled up for it by a journo

Non story. It's the kind of thing 'normal' people do and get away with. Hamilton is attacked only because he's in the public eye. On one hand, the journos should find some proper news. On the other, Hamilton has brought it on himself- so if he's going to do that, he may as well do it properly by making some kind of inflammatory and dismissive remark.
