Mark Webber alone knows more than the whole Sky team put together. Worth putting up with ads just for some detailed insight from someone who actually knows what they are talking about.

Anyone think that Karun is not quite in the correct job though ?

Thought that he was great last season when used, but this position does not seem his forte.

Ditched Sky earlier this month so had to watch it on C4. Overall not bad but please give that Ben Edwards a sedative, he really spoils it for me. And you don't realise how good it is watching it on HD until you lose it.

I was thinking the same, he has such huge knowledge and enthusiasm for the sport which is all wasted if he is standing in the pits telling us a dull story about tyres or fuel - he deserves a much better role in the show.

I really enjoyed the Channel 4 coverage of the qualifying.

Steve Jones did an excellent job considering it was his first GP, and a million times better than Suzi Perry ever was.

I enjoyed the exclusive interviews with Lewis, Toto and Horner after the qualifying.

The music was great throughout the program, and the program ran just as smoothly as anything Sky F1 have produced.

If anything it was better than Sky, as there was less pointless chat.

Well done C4 F1. smile
Agree with all of the above they have done a superb job, a great start and I look forward to seeing how the show is at a live event. Mark Webber was great today and I hope they can get him back on the show at a few more GP's (ie when not racing for Porsche).

Quite enjoyed C4's coverage, agree with the bombardment of adverts but I do understand it's a necessary evil and won't be there for the live races (next race is live on C4). I do think Karun was a bit weaker than the others, I'm not slating the chap as he clearly knows his stuff but can't quite articulate it in the programme as well as the others can, but there's room for improvement and it's early days yet. Looking forward to Bahrain.

Why is it not on the channel four catchup website yet? I couldn't watch as it as on TV as I was busy but since its only highlights I expected it to be on as soon as the broadcast finished.

Any idea where to find?
It's now come up as available

Watched the Moto GP on BT sport today and they had Suzy gushing about going back into the paddock of Moto GP with her gladiators, as she will now be doing some TV with them this year.

Just about summed up how she was only doing F1 for the money and didn't care about the sport at all.

P.S The Moto GP race was very boring.

Just tried it myself and nowhere does it mention the result.

http://www.channel4.com/programmes/formula-1

Why would you go to a website when it's obvious it might already display the result?

That's like going onto a news website to watch a video of today's news....of course it might show what has already happened.

Have you thought of investing in a 'video' recorder? rolleyes

Seems like user error to me.

I think it'll be hard to judge until we get to see a live race. Chandok was always good on 5 Live as an occasional pundit, he is a very sharp guy and funny too. I've always thought pit lane reporting is a bit daft anyway, you very rarely get any decent insights.

There are adverts in the race? Stupid!
It is only the highlights that will have adverts. When Channel 4 have live coverage the race will be advert free.

And how is it stupid? By their very nature highlights are delayed, so even if they showed the full race unedited they can still insert ad breaks without you missing any action. Yes, it's disruptive, but on the plus side you can have a loo or tea break and not miss anything. It's not like the old ITV days where you missed action because they cut to the adverts at inappropriate times.
Ah yes...I forgot this was highlights :-)

As you were !

Steve Jones was excellent for his first F1 weekend, it must have been a huge shock and a huge learning curve for him. Already he is far better than Suzi. But my goldfish would be better than Suzi, she actually made the whole F1 experience a lot worse. I remember Jake Humphrey's first race and he was pretty useless. But we all know how brilliant he became once he settled in. So give Jones a chance.

He has a lot of good presenting experience: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Jones_(present...

I thought he was a step down from Suzi Perry. I really wondered what he was there for other than to stare wide eyed and act as if he was in awe of Coulthard and Webber.

There was a point in the show where they interviewed Hamilton and they played a sort of ident intro for him - fine for WWF but just time wasting for F1. They also seemed to like playing music while information was read out.

It felt dumbed down - and it felt like the production team had come from doing celebrity talent show.

Will it get better? Very probably. Jake Humphrey evolved quite a bit over his first season - and Suzi Perry was looking like she was getting more comfortable in her second season - so there's no reason why Steve Jones won't grow - judging him on his first weekend is hardly a good measure.

I think C4 should have used Lee Mackenzie as an anchor, and that the BBC should have started using her for this after Jake left. More knowledge of the sport and people - and comes across as more down to earth.

But who would ask the drivers about how disappointed they are?

They could get an intern for that.

I rather get the impression that these 'interviews' are as dire and soul destroying for the the interviewers as well as the drivers (and for many of us in the audience).

They could dump the grid walk too - the 'traditional' BBC version or the funny lets talk while we walk version they had yesterday yesterday.

Thought the coverage was alright. I dumped Sky this year so C4 is all I have now and I was not disappointed.

Does Hamilton have some contract with the production team to big up his mates?
That piece to end the show where they asked Coulthard and Webber for a song to fit the weekend, they gave answers which were then dismissed in favour of Hamilton on his ipod. They played an RnB song I have never heard along with clips from the GP interspersed with a load of black people in a dark room, WTF has that to do with F1?

Not much but they're clearly trying to get new fans interested to replace the old codgers from a certain demographic that old codgers do not approve of.
