Anyone used NowTV for the races? Or it would be good if BernieF1 did their own package. I'm currently thinking of dumping Sky as most of the stuff we watch is recorded from terrestrial channels, the occasional thing from Discovery, and maybe half a dozen F1 races. >£500/year is a lot for 6 F1 races, much as I like the coverage. I already have an Amazon Prime subscription so can watch all of their stuff anyway. But I don't really need a £7.99 NowTV week pass for Sports when all I want to see is an F1 race.
6 x £8 < £500. HTH.

Id like that.

I'd pay £15 a month for the seasons duration to get EVERYTHING broadcast by FOM and in depth interviews with everyone.

TBH, I'd pay £15 a month for SkyF1 but they don't do their business like that. It's all the stuff you don't want or nothing at all. Could be a dying business model?

The problem being that at the moment you need to pay £50 a month to get F1 on Sky. If they introduce a F1 only option then they will lose a number of their £50 month customers who will down grade. For every customer that down grades they will need to find 2.3 new customers, and thats just to stay were they are.

My suspicion is that the fans who are going to get Sky to watch it live have done so already. The rest will drift away. Ultimately perhaps BTCC gives a good indication of what could happen. When it was on the BBC easily accessible it had a huge audience both on TV and at the the circuits, but that support has reduced significantly.

Isn't BTCC live on ITV4 now? Don't see how that's any less accessible than the BBC.

It's almost psychological. And it also depends on how much it is trailered on "mainstream" ITV 1 - in and around big audience programmes like Coronation St or Champions League Football.

Big audiences come from people who are not really die hard fans - so they will easilly drift away if they are not constantly reminded where to find something that they used to see almost by accident.

As Eric says its not immediately available, you have to scroll down the guide to find it.

Is it management orders for all the presenting team to be running around the paddock like they're off their faces on cocaine and gagging for a shag all the time?

Its actually painful to watch these guys, motoring legends, running around trying to create a 'buzz' like they're flogging free coffees on Clapham high street!

Watched a bit yesterday, Steve is still shockingly bad, After a driver interview all he was interested in was what hair product he used. vacuous doesn't even come close. laugh

I was also just thinking similar - that while the banter is good fun, they really should prepare some serious questions to ask too. Then the balance would be great. They don't seem to have planned that bit.

I can think of more appropriate adjective to use....

I can only watch it with the mute button to hand so I can't listen to the idiot punch

The dry early 90's delivery with palmer talking about gurney flaps wouldn't be exciting enough fir the people who run tv, it has to be like big brother now.

Yes, a technical discussion interrupted by the person running off to grab some unknown movie voice....quite annoying that as the discussion was interesting and in full swing too...

Although I agree with the sentiment, I hardly think Owen Wilson is "unknown", although he is an @rse, in my humble opinion.

He was rather out of place on the driver podium interview too, although I notice he disappeared as soon as Jenson relieved him of the mic hehe

I would also give the benefit of the doubt to Steve tbh, on the Owen Wilson "interview" cringe fest. Based on the fact the interview was held at the Cars 3 Pit Garage it clearly looked very much like pre paid, pre planned advertising / product placement for the movie that had to be featured by C4. The way Steve entered into that segment and talked on his walk to the garage, it sounded very much like that was the case.

Owen Wilson was unknown to me until today! It's not like he's in the bloody film he just has a speaking part! Who cares, it's got nothing to do with F1 - ultimate cringe-worthiness!

I still can't warm to Steve - he should have got the hang of it by now! I wasn't sure about Suzi Perry or James Allen to start with, but they managed to get into it pretty quickly - I'd happily see either of them back to replace Steve!

The rest of the team (well, other than EJ) are always pretty good, and JB seems like a natural.

But overall I'm just relieved there is some coverage that I don't need to buy from Sky (along with a load of other cr*p I wouldn't ever look at)!

The piece pre-race wasn't too bad but I couldn't watch the post race driver interviews. Hamilton is cringe-worthy on his own without Owen Wilson, who clearly knew he was out of place being up there. Button did rescue the show at the end.

Even so, DC saying to Toto, "I have nothing prepared, just say something." is not good enough.

I think Steve is actually spot on in presenting style but I had never heard of Owen Wilson either and am still none the wiser - nor can I be arsed to find out .

Where was Lee Mackenzie ?

And please, please please can we stop endless shots of narcissistic tossers getting so over excited when their image fleetingly appears on the big screen? It'll be two fingers from me if I'm selected , he said grumpily .

And please no more cutaways to driver's nan or random guest in pit garage - I really , really am not interested - is anybody ? It started with endless shots of Hakkinen's slightly spooky wife Erja , then Massa's dad and now it seems to involve the whole family. Don't think James Hunt would have brought his mum ......
