Wolff's just done his looking shifty thing when asked about water leaks.
Is there an emerging consensus that the water pressure issue was a code for fuel usage, hence it "stabilised" after a few laps?

Well it's looking a lot like someone has foam fingers on his side of the garage.

Surely the 2-lap safety car meant there was a lesser need for fuel saving?

yes, but the track is bad for fuel consumption, and LH was charging hard trying to take halk a second a lap out of NR, so he could have been using a lot of fuel

So what exactly is a water pressure issue? either you have water pressure or you don't

It's just my thoughts. Yes there was a chance to save behind the safety car but Lewis was battling with Kimi and Bottas before he started to catch Rosberg. OK, Rosberg was in traffic but it's still the 1st time I've heard of a water pressure problem stabilising itself.

Hopefully we will see both Mercedes drivers in equal equipment for the rest of the season.

What makes you think that?

If you have a very small water leak then you will suffer a very gradual drop in water pressure. It only takes a pinhole in a radiator to cause a gradual drop in pressure.

Nonsense- Hamilton is clearly being coached to get around the radio ban. Dock him another five places and make him start between Vettel and Kvyat next race. hehe

Maybe not tonight but Lewis will feel good about his recent results because every time he has a bad day he ends up in the points others have a bad day & they have a DNF so he won't be to worried because when Rosberg has a problem the big question is will he be able to finish in the points.

James Allen, who is pretty well versed in all things F1 is skeptical, from his blog:

before his engineer warned him about a “water pressure issue”.
From then on Rosberg eased home to win his fourth race of 2016 by 25 seconds over Hamilton, as the problem meant he had to back off before it eventually “stabilised”, with Raikkonen a further 6.9s back in third by the flag.

We will see. They are probably all using coded messages to some extent.

Must be his drinks bottle.

You'd think they'd call coolant "coolant" after all.

Dunno about anyone else, but I won't be using Sure Williams deodorant. I mean, I'm sure it was good once but it is probably quite mediocre now.

Not the best race.

However the best radio message ever. Poor old Seb, I can understand his disdain...

Well done to Lewis, a couple of necessary overtakes for second place.

Also well done to Nico, he drove well. I just really can't seem to like him though.

On my car if the pressure drops the temperature goes up, it never recovers until the issue is fixed

That's the point. Why would it stabilise? I would think a coded message about fuel is a very good bet.

I guess you have water pressure logged in your data system. What do you race?

My experience is from GT2 Porsche 997 RSRs, where a small, gradual pressure loss could be managed by short shifting a little and monitoring the temperatures and coolant pressure. Water pressure was a very important item on the data, largely due to the front-mounted radiators.
