F1 filming day

Hi all,

Considering going to this F1 filming day

It's this Friday (6th) and is free to attend.

Anyone been to such an event, before?

I imagine the on-track action will be infrequent and short, but still worth a visit?

I popped in to Brands last year when Lotus as it was then was doing the same there. It was interesting for about 10 mins and that's all really. They don't do full laps - out of the pits, run round and back in and stop for 5 mins then repeat.

Don't expect full bore flyers - or anything close.

The only interesting thing was the camera car - a big AMG Merc with a boom arm and camera tracking the F1 car. The F1 car was audibly poodling around yet the Merc was pretty much on it's rims trying to keep up.

If you're in the area and have an hour to kill, then worth a look in but I wouldn't make a special trip.

I'm not so sure now - it's a good couple of hours round trip for me so doesn't sound like it will be worth it.
