His narcissism is also infuriating. I don't read his stuff at all any more.
Didn't he once have a financial interest in Caterham F1?

Ah I only read the quote.. not the actual post.... I assumed *his* was talking about VJ... ooops

And his very first reply to a comment below sums him up in a nutshell!

There is a polite way to speak..

I have never heard of a "low energy input" driving style before. What does that mean?
No idea but I've heard it said (or variations of such) several times on SKY commentary over the last few years. I think it means he is a bit dainty at the wheel (like Button) and isn't aggressive enough to heat up the tyres quickly.

Anyway, back on topic...

I think it's going to come down to Ricciardo vs Hamilton for pole. Last year Rosberg appeared to be a fair way off Hamilton's pace until he lucked in. Let's see what happens..

I don't know... Merc seem to have a habit of finding pace all of a sudden in Q3 and I would never right off Rosberg in qualifying as he seems every bit as good as Lewis on his day.

I'm a bit disappointed that Red Bull are not giving both cars the same engine as it negates and competition or fair comparison between the two drivers really. However if Ricciardo is up near the front then it will be a huge wake up call for Ferrari.... I can see heads rolling before long as there is too much talk of good performance but not enough delivery of actual results.

I follow Peter Windsor on YouTube and he has some videos explaining this with Rob Wilson who is a big Kimi advocate:

Rob Wilson on Kimi Raikkonen and other driver's styles

They talk about keeping the car flat/taking a corner in a 'V' shape/reducing lateral load on the tyres.

Peter Windsor's notes:

Notes on Kimi’s driving – 2012

More observations by Peter:

Driving styles through Bahrain's Turn 9

RB was always going to do well in Monaco. On a track where chassis is king and power less of a factor I'm not surprised that DR set a blistering time.

Ferrari has no chance of out qualifying either the Mercs or RB. Not because Ferrari are poor, the track simply does not suit the car.

So what have Ferarri changed since last year? Last year Vettel was spectacular on the streets of Singapore and was good enough to take advantage of Hamilton's safety car error in Monaco. Have they done something to make the car worse on street circuits or is it just that RedBull are starting to elbow-in on the gap between Ferarri and Mercedes?

I think this year's car has a longer wheelbase which will benefit them on fast open circuits but disadvantage them at Monaco (which is a unique circuit).

The key to Singapore was how well Ferrari turned on the tyres and got them to temperature fast, Merc were unable to get theirs into that window. Stupid Pirelli oversensitive rubber.

IIRC it has a whole new front end - push-rod rather than pull etc.

Ricciardo got priority on the new engine because he is ahead in the WDC standings, and also qualified ahead of Verstappen in the last race, the same reasons that Magnussen also got the new spec ahead of Palmer.
This isn't correct for Ricciardo.

The reason Ricciardo got it is because it was already agreed before Verstappen even joined the team, Verstappen said this himself in an interview on Thursday.

Just read somewhere that Lauda is jumping up and down insisting that Merc renew Rosberg's contract.

Does this perhaps mean that others at the top of Merc are less keen? They do have Wherlein waiting in the wings.

Also the principle negotiators for Rosberg are his dad and Gerhard Berger. Wouldn't be my first choice.

Would be interesting if they drop Nico, and he actually wins the WDC!

Has a team ever dropped a driver after winning the WDC?

Williams dropped Hill. We had an Arrows driving around the back of the grid with a #1 on the nose!

Yes, Williams also dropped Mansell, we had a zero running around the next year.
