The Official 2016 Monaco Grand Prix Thread **Spoilers**

FP1 cancelled after a manhole cover got sucked out of the road and shot down the hill hitting buttons car and destroying the front wing!! A flipping manohole cover! Hit his wing and hit his front tyre, flicking up in the air even more!
WTF. Could have been nasty

Haah! love BBC fanboy reporting
Now I'm as impressed as the next guy that he was fastest, but surely this is one of the smallest gaps we've had in practice so far this season?
Benson then goes on to elaborate - basically Ham was straight up to speed before making a few mistakes, whilst Ros started slow then got up to speed, with no mistakes. Basically typical of both their styles, as long as we assume they're on identical programmes. Rosberg later drove over the manhole cover that wrecked Jenson's car, so I guess that's yet another reason to berate the German.
Anyways, looks like we'll have another interesting Merc on Merc battle =)

Memorable skills from Hamilton
How quickly a driver can get to the limit at a track that is bounded by walls and run on normal city streets is always regarded as one of the best measures of the level of his naked talent.
Is it? Maybe. Probably. Still fluff though.
boring bit about lap times
From Hamilton, it was the sort of performance that defines an image, that will be remembered down the years as illustrative of a towering talent.
Fluff
He then made a couple a errors, cutting the chicane after misjudging his entry, and then going straight on at the first corner Sainte Devote, without any damage.
Hamilton's mistakes entirely excusable then
Late in the session, Rosberg suffered a puncture to his left rear tyre after running over and dislodging a drain cover at Ste Devote, which subsequently punctured the front right tyre and shattered the front wing of McLaren's Jenson Button, the next car along.
Foolish clumsy Rosberg driving over a drain hole cover, imagine that
I suppose with Alonso not doing much, Poor Andrew only has Hamilton to fantasise over. How quickly a driver can get to the limit at a track that is bounded by walls and run on normal city streets is always regarded as one of the best measures of the level of his naked talent.

It's testing. If Rosbeg had gone for a pole lap 5 mins into P1 and binned it, we'd all (correctly) be lambasting him as a muppet. I mean, is anyone here not thinking Massa and Palmer have once again made mistakes F1 professionals simply shouldn't? Especially in P1 - the team sneed that test data a lot more than "winning" the practice battle against Haas.Vocal Minority said:
So? With the best will in the world to Lewis, what has it achieved, other than giving his fans another pointless stat to wave about.
The gap was closed.
Go to Monaco and set a blistering time within minutes of doing your first lap then? You couldn't. Being able to get up to scratch with the track immediately takes some doing! Bit OTT from bbc but it's still impressive. The gap was closed.
They need to report something to make the dullest weekend of the year exciting
