Yes and he got there due to doing well. Then he performed well in the lower series and tests. Then he performed well in F1. He is a fecking talented driver and a proper racer who can (as the greats do) drive around an issue with the car as well.....
No-one is suggesting he doesn't have talent, but it's hardly a struggle against the odds is it. He had decent backing from an early age by a major team.

wouldn't it be great if F1 wasn't just Lewis Hamilton. Is he related to the Kardashians?
why do you keep posting about him?
It seems all he ever does is comes on these threads and talk about LH.

I dread to think what he'll do when Lewis retires!?
Roam around the street like a homeless idiot, wonder where it all went wrong with his life? hehe

Its often said that Bernie doesnt understand or care for digital media but Ive just fruitlessly had a look for a webcam to check out the Monaco weather in real time - why isnt there an official F1 webcam?

Looking forward to what will be an interesting race this year.

Glad DR is on pole, just hope the weather doesn't rain on his parade.

Yep, take a look back through the threads, no one else mentions Lewis at all!... Haha

Hope, as many do, that Danny gets the chance to get this one. Good character to have in F1 always fighting in the car, always smiling out of it.

The weather forecast this morning seems to be suggesting a 50/50 chance of light ish rain.

But you get the point don't you?

Might be more intelligent for him (and anyone else that the Lewis content irritates) to start or join discussion about other elements of the race weekend instead of driving ever more Lewis content by endless bhing about "him not being happy enough with his fortunate life' etc. It's as if the attempts to keep moaning about him get ever more desperate and then they pipe up and say why do we have to keep talking about him.

The weather really is starting to look like heavy showers all day. I know the Red Bull will perform well in wet conditions but it brings so much more risk and so many more strategies into play that I really feel for DR. Under normal conditions he'd only have to keep his nose clean and he'd win. Now, that's going to be much harder and there will be brave calls happening everywhere that will bring other cars into play.

I looked at BBC and TheWeatherChannel, both saying it's going to be heavy showers from late morning through the afternoon. I don't know if I want a dry race or a wet race.... I think on balance I'll take wet.

I think I'd like a race that alternates between wet and dry :-)

If you knew how difficult & how much money it normally takes just to get that far, you wouldn't be quite so glib.

& exactly how many on the young driver programme have gone onto to F1? ...& how have they faired?

Currently having my first experience of F1 on Sky (via Now TV). So far Ted Kravitz has made me cringe.

There, you've got it.
His Notebook after qualifying was a classic that I won't be deleting. hehe
Crashing from one awkward encounter to another as usual, but with mis-recognised celebs thrown in.

Lewis has a car that *should* be capable of winning every race and taking every pole, Lewis therefore expects the car to be reliable enough to give him that opportunity at every race. This season on several occasions the car has let him down, why on earth would he look happy about that?

Regardless of his previous achievements the fact is he is at Merc to win, if Merc are not allowing him to do that due to a consistently unreliable car then he has every right to be unhappy and complain and yet in the face of it all he has remained professional, noticeably unhappy and glum but he has not ripped his team to bits or said there is a conspiracy against him he is just plodding on.

Despite all that, idiots on forums and in the media look for any small reason to rip into him and then complain that it's all about Lewis, he doesn't talk about himself all the time, he doesn't go looking for people to interview him, the media constantly report on him and people in threads just like this one constantly bring him up.

People need to get a grip, he is by no means perfect, far from it in fact but the majority of the things people complain about when it comes to Lewis are absolute rubbish, the fact is he is 1 of the best drivers we have on the grid today, 1 of the most exciting drivers for both good and bad reasons when it comes to racing through the field and F1 today would be far less interesting if he was not on the grid.

I'm sure i'll get called a Lewis fanboy or something, don't really care.

In terms of the race today it's going to be interesting if it rains, if it doesn't rain then Ricciardo will win as long as his start is ok and his car stays together, the US-SS difference isn't big enough for Rosberg to jump him on equal measure at the start and the Merc starts on both cars have been hit and miss this year.

If it rains it becomes more of a lottery, if the rain is heavy they'll start under safety car which ruins that small opportunity at the start but it will inevitably bring out further safety cars for incidents where the rain catches people out which in terms of pit strategy will mix things right up. The biggest gamble anyone will make is when to pit for slicks, the person who times that right will win this race and that could be anyone from the top 5.

I also predict (And have put money on) Verstappen being a DNF, his aggressive driving style and starting from the back are going to result in inevitable contact somewhere as he will be desperate to make up places and at Monaco contact normally means retirement. He is 18/1 to be the first retirement from the race and 5/2 not to be classified which I personally think are huge odds at this race.

Oh you have seen nothing yet. Wait until Johnny 'Sort of' Herbert (every other word is 'sort of') and the demi-god of buffoonery who co-commentates... smile

I watch with Radio 5 Live for the main commentary.

I have a feeling the timing of a safety car period will decide the winner today rather than skill or bravery.

Could do with a Nico DNF to spice up the championship a bit.

I can't watch the race live so I pop in here to have a quick look at the latest news.

Everybody hates Lewis (because he's unhappy? Or happy? It's difficult to tell) apparently!

Great thread.
