Maybe they were trying to avoid frustrations from either driver preventing both cars from finishing. The Sauber incident may have subsequently vindicated the call. It was clear fairly early on that NR and his car were not going to be competitive today.
going birdwatching instead of managing a racing team would certainly avoid lot of frustrationsSome Gump said:
Interesting race. Gutted for Danny ric, and love that Ham effectively removed his right to moan about the previous weekend. If DR had kept his toe in, they'd both have DNF'ed.
You do realise don't you that when exiting the chicane, Daniel only lifted when he lost the back end on the wet offline and that there was just a little more than a cars width next to Hamilton, who was on the dry racing line? The issue IMO was Hamilton losing it under braking and cutting the chicane - what could be viewed as gaining an advantage - essentially slowing DR as he returned to the circuit.
Completely different circumstances, both questionable in their own right. Both racing incidents though, but one more malicious than the other, and one miles off the racing line to the other, and one not leaving a cars width, and one having a massive closing speed... Etc...

You could argue that Danny only had the lead that RBR squandered because Nico was so slow and held everyone up.
You could argue that lewis only had the deficit he did, because rosberg let him past. Not that it matters. 40 % of you want hamilton's children. 40% want his blood. There's very few people left to talk to rationally

What the fk is fking Bieber doing there
Waiting for Hamilton to suck him off after he's helped him with his American accent.TheExcession said:

Whatever credibility Hamilton had was totally lost in that one exchange with Bieber!
That really was painful.
It was painful, but I take the long view - if those few seconds add US interest and sponsorship to a team then I'll accept it.That really was painful.
Given it is 2016, to be honest I find that the girls holding the driver numbers on the grid a rather poor 70's throwback....

I agree that this is the question. The exit was completely fair in its own right (left sufficient room, stayed on the correct line, no erratic move etc). The entrance was certainly more interesting. It seems very rare that they take the view that the defending car gained an advantage unless the pass is actually completed and the defending car regains position (DR wasn't actually very close in the braking zone after losing the back end whilst almost on top on Lewis through the tunnel). He certainly was disadvantaged on exit due to the mess he made of the entrance so maybe that's why the officials aren't interested? The issue IMO was Hamilton losing it under braking and cutting the chicane - what could be viewed as gaining an advantage - essentially slowing DR as he returned to the circuit.

I've been trying to work out how DR could have made the pass and am wondering if he needed to try and take the inside line, but he had got on the throttle earlier than Lewis and there was no room to the left at that point and if he didn't go outside would have had to lift. Had it been dry, he'd have made the pass to the outside, but in those mixed conditions it was ever so difficult.

Has it been established what exactly went wrong with DR's pit stop?
Comms between pit wall (which is actually upstairs from the garage) and the mechanics. They made a switch of tyre type 30 secs before the stop and due to the small garage and the number of wets in play, the needed tyre was right at the back of the garage... A situation unique to Monaco, but a comms error none the less.freddytin said:

Great race.
Danny Rics wrath is strangely out of character. Yes, the team cocked up but he got 2nd.
I have never seen him act like that before. Strange.
Yep, don't understand his attitude at all. What a miserable git. Danny Rics wrath is strangely out of character. Yes, the team cocked up but he got 2nd.
I have never seen him act like that before. Strange.
