I mentioned in another thread the 1996 Monaco GP (wet) was one of the best races I have ever been to. Polesitter Schumacher out on the first lap, Hill's engine blew up and Villeneuve crashed.

Once all the top dogs were eliminated the race really came alive and Olivier Panis won.

Rio Haryanto for the win? smile

Lol,

The merc boys will have been read the riot act for this weekend. " Keep you cars away from each other or it will be one veek in der cooler !"

So nico will follow this to the letter, and Lewis will ignore it if he gets the chance.

To answer the question, Lewis's fault wink

I remember that, it was a bloodbath! I was pretty unhappy at the time as a Hill fan, but in hindsight it was an amazing chaotic spectacle. It also shows modern F1 in a good light when you see how common engine failure was back then.

I think it was actually on youtube not so long ago, it may still he up.

Particularly good light when you also remember that was in the days when they got a new engine (or two) for every race ... yet still had more failures than today and on slower cars.

I'd actually be very happy for both Mercs to be out of it, pretty fed up with both of them.

Would make it far more exciting.
Couldn't agree more the last race was great to watch.
Without the Mercs, it will just be the RB's winning all the time, and we've been there done that and Vettel has the t-shirt.

I like the exuberant way young Max drives so I wouldn't mind that. And Ricciardo is no slouch so I think they would be far more evenly matched than Vettel/Webber.

I would love to see Max and Ricciardo outbraking each other down the inside of corners all season.

I didn't think it was a particularly great and exciting race if I'm honest. No different to others this season really.
