2 schools of thought here, 1 the suspension isn't designed for the loads those kerbs exert.

However, 2, if that was a wall then the drivers would avoid it, so they know the cars can't go that far off track, they are pushing it.

So I think the track limits need to be massively enforced now

Put the gravel traps back to the edge of the normal kerbs, there's a good number of them around this circuit already and they always keep drivers focused on staying on the track.

Why? The kerbs aren't on the track. If the drivers stuck to the track it shouldn't cause them any issues.
I know that, but was the intention to destroy suspension with the curbs? I think not.

Am I the only one who doesn't really care if they run slightly out of track limits?? As long as all the drivers are treated equally in terms of penalties or whatever.

These kerbs are just unnecessarily adding danger though.

This red flag is going on too flipping long as always.

The answer is to respect track limits.
As above. Destroying suspension if they do run wide is unacceptable. I'm not saying they should be allowed to run wide.

3rd car to have suspension break today. Time to remove those big curbs. The cars aren't up to it. Yes, they shouldn't run wide, but this is silly. At least give the teams a chance to develop the cars to withstand the oscillation from them.
They seem to be acting as a good deterrent to exceeding track limits without the certainty of failure you'd have with a wall or post. More please.

I suppose I didn't see it that way. I'd prefer a wall though! Easier to keep it inside a wall.

In at least two places it's quite possible to put all 4 wheels over the track omit line without hitting the yellow blocks, so hey don't deter anyone from deliberately exceeding track limits.

What they do is put at risk those who make a mistake and run really wide. I'm not against those who do that losing out but not to the extent of wrecking the cars, and potentially the race, and putting the drivers lives at risk.

Just another Whiting knee jerk in the wrong direction for me.

We need to go back to 4ft of normal kerbing followed by 6ft of gravel. Then the tarmac runoffs after that.

I assumed they only came into play when drivers were outside the rules. Either way it remains up to the driver whether they run over them, and it seems likely that backing off if they do will help.

Manor screwed up there, they should have gone out on ultras straight away as the track has cooled with spots of rain now. They could have been in Q3 if it does rain as they're thinking.

That Red Bull needs a better cup holder. Terrible interior spec.

JB provisional 3rd on the grid, with a possibility of 2nd if the Hulk is penalised for not lifting for the yellows in Q2!

Great performance, seemed a little surprised in the interview as he thought he was starting 4th!

Great interview with him on Sky, "it's easy from here, I've seen it on TV, the guys at the front just disappear don't they".

Yes, you are saying exactly that

Drivers should respect the track.
