Jensons future
Discussion
From the story on the BBC about Jenson having to wait till September to find out:
Dennis said there was no advantage in deciding now because, among other reasons, "you just disenchant a driver".
Surely that says the Jenson wont be staying. Why would you worry about disenchanting Vandoorne as he is not doing anything at the min.

I'd like to see Jenson at Williams, too. It's funny, as a bloke on the telly I really enjoy watching him, very personable and engaging. I've heard he's a right tt to work with, though, and I got so bored of him moaning about his (admittedly crap) Honda all those years ago, he eventually got up my nose. So many drivers would give a limb for even a test drive in some crappy Manor, let alone a seat in a car. Maybe he'll realise that too late in his career. Time for new blood.
With the amount of money Honda threw at that car, I think he had every right to complaint it was ste! - especially as they promised him a title challenging car year after year.Soul Reaver said:
I hope Jenson moves to another team. I'm sick to death of seeing him my favorite driver by far year after year in that st fking car and with that tt Ron D at the helm. It is a st team and has been for years.
Sorry, could you just clarify...are you a fan of McLaren or not ?Flooble said:
I do wonder why Ron Dennis is so adamant no-one else can have the Honda powerplant. It's a bit like refusing to let anyone else use a 2013 car. Or to have a set of tyres from Kwik Fit. Unless he knows McLaren's chassis and aero isn't actually much good and letting someone else run the Honda would show them up? Bit like 2014 when McLaren ran the Mercedes engine and came in a long way behind
According to Honda it's because no one wants them.I understand they want a second team, as more miles is better development

if ron dennis got his head out of his arse it is the best option BUT he's so adamant that no one else is benefitting from honda that he's actually cutting off his own nose to spite his face!
mclaren is a pressure cooker it needs development they don't need a rookie who doesn't know which way to go they actually need JB and ALONSO for at least another year
OR what is the possibility of running 3 cars? is that allowed?
I disagree on the engine front. Honda are currently not delivering. If one heaps the additional stress on them of having to supply another team, their rate of progress will diminish. In any event, this is the final year in which McLaren's veto has any validity, so we'll see what transpires.mclaren is a pressure cooker it needs development they don't need a rookie who doesn't know which way to go they actually need JB and ALONSO for at least another year

As for JB, his demeanour suggests he already has another option. Knowing Richard Goddard, that'll be cast iron. The only question is whether that deal has options to allow Jenson to accept a McLaren offer over it. The smart money is on JB replacing Massa at Williams.

If not then if Rosberg gets confirmed for merc (I hear Alonso is in the picture for either '17 or ''18)
McLaren have to be careful they don't want to get rid of button for Vandoorne to then lose nando at end of '17 as well and have 2 non wdc drivers sponsors will run a mile
Plus can mclaren afford to lose Santander as I believe they're jensons main sponsor
Interested in your source for Alonso to Mercedes. No value to them in his going there. They'd put Wehrlein in. Rosberg has a one plus one in front of him but understandably wants a two plus one.If not then if Rosberg gets confirmed for merc (I hear Alonso is in the picture for either '17 or ''18)

Santander sponsor the team, not the driver. Witnessed by them staying with McLaren after Alonso left in 2008.
McLaren also sign partners up for long term deals. A partner cannot just up sticks. Granted, potential partners might not want to commit if the team doesn't have a name to promote them.
