Lewis can just drive a car whilst many other drivers have to have the car perfect to drive well.

I was told many years ago that a test he undertook - they set the car up badly to see what happened. The drivers were all coming back and complaining the car had no balance and could not be driven without sliding about. Lewis drove the fastest lap and they asked did he have any problems with it and he said "No it was ok"..
The latter sounds like a tall tale, he may well have done a good time but you'd hope he would come back and tell them how the setup needed tweaking.

JB has described his driving as heavily based on feel which is why he is so good in marginal conditions, but also why he struggles if the car setup isn't to his suiting.
I read another really interesting story from a McLaren engineer. It was when Lewis was testing prior to the 2007 season, so they were his first few laps in an F1 car. The engineers observed on the telemetry what they could clearly see was a massive moment Lewis had had on the brakes and expected to see him looking very relieved that he had not binned the car when he got back to the pits.

Apparently, he did not even mention it, and so eventually the engineer in question asked Lewis 'any problems at all in the braking zone for turn 9?’ and Lewis just said ‘No, all fine'. He had just driven instinctively around it and it was no drama to him at all…

Was it not Hamilton that drove into button rather than button driving into Hamilton?

But his 2011 Canada was cracking and his race at spa was seriously dominant! I’m a jb fan through and through and would love to see a return! I think he fell out of love when McLaren alledgedly treated him crap and signed vandoorne! As soon as that happened he just couldn’t be bothered for the rest of the season
He fell out of love with F1 when his dad died.

Opinions differ of course! I looked at it many times and my reading of it was that Jens put Lewis into the wall...
I think it was simply a case of Jenson trying to close the gap to prevent Lewis getting past, thinking that Lewis was still behind his rear wing, but didn’t realise that Lewis was more alongside than he thought he was.

That's pretty much how it seemed to me too. Jenson seemed surprised judging by the radio message, but that doesn't mean it was Hamilton's fault or that he had no right to try to get past.

Interestingly I remember Jenson said early in 2000 that he felt he was right up there on his day in qualifying already (and sometimes he did qualify very well, high up on the grid and ahead of Ralf Schumacher in the other Williams) but that he'd need to get used to racing the full distance to be competing better over the whole race.

He also said that he hated fitness work or something though I seem to remember that year, and then he ended up doing Triathlons later!

Jenson and Yamamoto have won the Super GT title, by taking third place, just 1.5 seconds ahead of their main rivals. It’s Honda's first title since 2010, and Jenson is the first rookie since Toranosuke Takagi in 2005.

Agree, he’ll be the best of the bunch once he’s settled in.

This announcement is no surprise. It was inevitable that Jenson would oin Sky. I expect him to become Brundle’s long-term replacement.

That's a shame - I had hoped Channel 4 might want him. I'm pretty sure he did appear in their coverage a couple of times and was really good.

As good as he will probably be, I'm still not paying what Sky charge! banghead

Jenson is a good commentator so a good move all around.

I wonder if Rosberg will stick around. I have enjoyed his no nonsense style of punditry.

Why would he want to be involved with about 4 races a year when he could do them all? That’s ridiculous.

C4 are showing all the races but only the British GP live. Not sure where you get the figure of four races from.

On their highlights shows now they have the build up and post race analysis so there would have been scope for him there but I expect Sky are offering a great deal of money and live TV is much more of a buzz.

I meant live. It’s a massive difference to showing a delayed programme. Being there and being live is presumably what he wants.

We don't have sky any more, but I do think he will be great on TV. Being a commentator and a Pundit are two different things though. I personally think DC is not the greatest commentator and there is no guarantee that Jenson will be able to make that transition. Replacinng Brundle will be hard though and I think he is very good at what he does and he had bog boots to fill when he stepped into the job (Murray) and Murrey kept going until he was well into his 70s.

As for C4 recruiting Jenson to their team, I'm sure he would have been approached, but lets be honest Sky have bigger pockets than C4 and if your going choose between the two outlets, then it would have to be Sky.

I really don't like the welsh anchor they have on the C4 show. Steve somebody?

I think he's been great. I much prefer him to Simon Lazenby.

Jones is much better now than when he started.

Head and shoulders over the sky idiot.
