Dont normally watch FP but that bit on the brake assembly was very cool little interlude and is why I like the sky coverage; its very geeky but thats what a large % of F1 fans want, we love the technical aspect and the sky programmers seem to grasp that. They started out unsure what to do - remember georgie? - but seemingly werent afraid to admit they were wrong, listen and move on.

Yea but is that worth £29.95/month, which is what it would cost me to get Sky F1 on Virgin Media?

Like hairyben above I'm a bit geeky and really like the Sky coverage of FP when time permits. However as I don't watch any other sport I would not be prepared to cough up an extra thirty quid just for F1. I'd settle for the FTA coverage.

You can get Sky via NowTV for less than £30 a month (well, unless it's a month with three races in it - seven days is £11.99 so that would give you FP1,2,3,Qually and the Race)

Yeah 30 nicker seems like a lot espeically when you know 90% of it funds big ticket greenfield sports which many F1 fans have zero interest in and would resent the impression theyre paying over the odds for. This is why sky was quite cunning bundling it with the hd pack (which I have). Tough to say if Id pay it or not if sky bin the hd legacy and want a full sub, we are used to enjoying watching it which I guess is the idea. Same as drug pushers lol.

Even with week passes you're talking about £230.79/year...

Which is less than paying £30 a month, at £360 per year ...

I have it on Legacy but absolutely hate the coverage.

Apart from Martin Brundle and Anthony Davidson, both of whom are excellent, Kravitz, Croft and Herbert are complete wallies and almost unwatchable. The tabloid agenda they constantly push is horrible and their presenters really are inept. I will often watch it with Radio 5 commentary for non-CH4 live races.

I certainly wouldn't pay for it.

I have sky F1 via the legacy HD pack. However I moved in with the Mrs just before the start of the 2015 season, and she doesn't get it.

I have been able to use Sky Go to watch it on my tablet, but Sky won't let me cast it to the TV, so I am stuck with my phone for live timing, which is too small for the proper timing page.If I can't watch it live I am stuck waiting for the C4 highlights, or Sky to post it to catch up. All in all it has been a real ball ache. Just before the Austrian Grand Prix we moved my sky box out of my flat, so I have easy access to Sky F1 again and can time shift. I am so glad to have it back again.

Having said that, when C4 cover the race live I generally choose their coverage as I prefer it. I never watch the Sky pre/post show as it just grates too much.

You can usually find a way to watch F1 if you know the right google searches. Quality can be variable, but I watched last week's race this way.

It's the sneaky way they up the payment all the time. I got them down to 30 quid last year and I'm now paying 44 quid for the same old st. I declined to pay for their st footballers at 111k a week and still it creeps up. The Mrs likes the Tour Cycling, BSB and WSB so will just have to cough up.

I stream it on my mac via a VPN and safari (the only thing I use safari for!) and airplay (or chromecast) to the TV from there.... how awkward that sky block you from sending it from a tablet to a TV!

Sky was a real mixture today. Pre-race the Herbert piece with Force India was not funny or entertaining, it was just embarrassing. If I want to see clowns I go to a circus. And Herbert is annoying as f*** with every other word being ''sortof''. Truly lowest common denominator TV for the brainless masses. Croft and Kravitz very much cut from the same cloth.

Damon Hill was really good, he seems a bit more lively now and his knowledge and judgment is great as expected.

Anthony Davidson, excellent, Brundle excellent.

CH4 from what I have seen so far, consistently better coverage. Webber is brilliant, probably the best of all the crew as he has recent race experience and a great manner of conveying information.

As long as Sky persists with all this tabloid Essex cheeky chappy bull***t I would never pay for it.

So you watched it but didn't pay for it ?

Sky can improve, but I have no reason to watch CH4. Brundle is stronger than DC, EJ talks more crap than everyone put together and they have a welsh Lazenby who isn't quite as good.

I'd like to see Sky use Damon more as you say. I'd also like to see them chatting more informally with drivers/engineers, they do get to do it sometimes - mostly when Brundle sits down with them.

If Button does hang up his helmet he'd be a good addition to either team, purely from a "put the viewer in the cockpit" angle.

He said he has it on Legacy, so he does pay for it, in a roundabout sort of way :-)

The guy on C4 (Steve Jones?) seems to be learning fast; he's become a lot more natural recently with some decent banter with DC last week and this. Chandhook is way better than Kravitz in the pits, driver interviews by Lee McKenzie are much better too. Probably a toss up for me between DC and Brundle. Even Wolff seems to be better (although her solo piece to camera yesterday was a bit cringeworthy in my opinion).

In my ideal world we would have DC and Brundle doing commentary, Davidson doing technical analysis, Chandhook in the pits and Lee Mckenzie anchoring/interviewing. With Hill & Webber providing a "drivers panel" for insights.

When it become 100% Sky I reckon most of the C4 team will move over to Sky.

I have it on the Legacy pack so I don't pay for it specifically.

I only watch it on Channel 4, used to watch qualifying live when it was all on the BBC.

I was happy with the BBC part live part recorded option and am equally happy with the Channel 4 option. Find the highlights perfectly adequate and tend to record them and watch them later. Does mean I need to be careful not to find the result before I watch it, but its not too difficult. Havent had one race this year where I have known the result before watching the highlights.

Quite happy to save the best part of £500pa that Sky would cost be as a new customer!

If it stays like it is with just one team well ahead of the rest then I wouldn't bother paying for it.
