This observer considers that she lost all credibility when she signed up five drivers for two racing cars bringing chaos upon the team.

I still can't believe that she did it and I recall her looking well out of her depth throughout the whole saga.

I also can't ignore the fact that apart from a small blip in 2014 thanks to the relatively peppy Ferrari PU, Sauber have been nowhere since... whenever it was that the car was white and Perez drove it.

They've been in a holding action/fight for survival for a good few years (since P Sauber was dragged back into ownership probably) and definitely need an enthusiastic and super-wealthy owner/backer or they will surely disappear.

Is there any engine supplier that would allow BMW to make a graceful return without causing too much brand tension?

Are VW far enough through their scandal recovery to consider acquisition?

Have you heard the modern engines? Quite dull, but at least you don't leave with hearing damage.

I really think the British fans add an extra dimension in terms of atmosphere also.
Possibly. I have attended but the fans were meek in comparison to say, Monza.
I used to stand at Club. It is full of a variation of supporters of teams and drivers. In qually one year Mansell, in the Judd-engined Williams, put in what I still think is the most committed and exciting single lap I've ever seen. 10/10ths all the way. After his car passed Club everyone (except a small group of Ferrari fans, conveniently stuck in one corner) cheered and applauded. We were still clapping when he crossed the line.

A little later a turbo-charged car beat the time. The same crowd cheered and applauded him as well.

If that's meek then I can't wait until they inherit the world. Or at least the world of F1.

Indeed. I was pretty underwhelmed. GP2 though ...

My dad and I went to Silverstone for our maiden F1 experience around 6 years ago (last year of the old circuit I believe) and it was probably one of the best weekends of my life. Nothing prepares you for the sound of a F1 car at full chat. Was boiling hot that weekend as well; 30+ IIRC.
I knew they'd be quick but holy stting bugger, they are almost incomprehensibly fast on corners in a way which simply does not come across on the TV. Great crowd as well.

The 80's and 90's may have been different but they were meek on the occasions I was there.

Monza is a different level or atmosphere. Passionate fans, the best value general admission tickets, sitting with the locals and sharing some wine and nibbles with them, trying to explain in a mix of French and fractured Italian the positions and what was happening from my Kangoo TV thing (not in sight of a screen), walking the track afterwards (why doesn't everyone allow this?)...

Mercedes allow their drivers to race freely after a meeting back at the factory. Phew!

VW won't ever join F1. They just like to flirt with the idea.

BMW got their fingers burnt. They came in with Williams and basically thought they'd be able to ruin the team via proxy, Frank wasnt having any of that, so they tried to buy him out and got told where to go. They went and bought Sauber ands actually made good progress with Kubica, they could have challenged for the title but scaled back development then seemingly got the hump and bailed out of the team. They might come back I suppose, but they'd need a good reason. I think we might see them in GTE pro, they've been running the new 6 series gt3 cars this year, including at the N24.

I agree with the above comments, they had a good season with Perez's in the car, front row starts etc. Then Kaltenborn came along and its been downhill ever since.

My last GP was 8 years ago. My last trip to Club during a GP was two years before that.

I would agree about Italian fans being passionate, but only about Ferrari. From my experience, the UK fans, or at least those that go to Silverstone, are fans of the sport. Let's face it, they have to be to spend that sort of money.

Silverstone will be packed again this year..... like it is every year. There will probably be more people attending tomorrow than for Race Day in Austria! The British Grand Prix is a real highlight of the year!!!!

It is expensive, £195 to stand/sit on the grass, but, you get three days admission and 6 1/2 hrs of F1. You get 2 GP2 races, one long one not so long, 2hrs. You get 2 GP3 races 1hr. You get Porsche Cup races 1hr. You get 4 concerts with Fridays being a full set from Texas for the middle aged..... one from Mike and Mechanics (apt), Scouting for girls for the kids and a.n.other nobody... Air displays on 2 days.

Compare all that to a premier league match £60 odd quid or more for 90mins of action. £100+ pounds for Boxing which more than likely finishes in less 3minutes, it doesn't look so bad
