Pace isn't important, it's checking if there are any points where an F1 can aquaplane. A Merc GT on road tyres will be fine in places slicks wont.

It's not running a few millimetres off the track surface and chucking spray out of the diffuser.

So sad that F1 has no balls any more. That track would have been fine a few years agao, take your time and you won't bin it

Not being pedantic here but they won't be on slicks, they'll be on full wets... If they're like 'Wets' in motorcycle racing, they will be amazingly grippy.. Far far better than road tyres.. Only downside is the wear rate is extremely high and if the track gets dry areas, the tyres will overheat..

The're going out - thank goodness.

I was almost going to suggest that the session might be cancelled.

F1's balls, when it comes to wet weather, died with Jules Bianchi.

Look only a baboon would say it's not going to be pretty hairy out there on the track for an F1 driver.. The point is though that if we compare year on year and motorsport history, it's not excessively wet.

No, but, as I posted up there - we don't have proper wet setups anymore, as current parc fermé rules won't allow it.

Apologies I didn't realise what I'd typed... problem with watching the tv at the same time as being on the forum hehe

Wow, how dumb are Ferrari - all the other teams were waiting in the pit lane fully expecting more rain...... Ferrari had Vettel and Raikkonen practically last out on track.

Still a likely outcome, I think.

It seems to me that these current cars and, more importantly, their tyres, just can't work in wet conditions.

So all cars set a time, are p20 and 21. If quali is cancelled, that's where they start. Could Hamilton take an engine swap and get bugger all penalty?

So, if there were to be no restart to this session (is that possible?)

That would make this round a good place for Lewis to take a penalty for new PU?

I'm sure I remember a Sunday morning quali in recentish years.

EDIT - Last year in the US. http://www.skysports.com/f1/news/12433/10041041/us...

When it's like this I wish they'd save up some highlights from a classic race, or some technical features to show rather than just filling the time with rubbish banter.

Now they've started the session, as far as I'm aware it won't go to Sunday, this would be the grid if there is no re start. Which looks unlikely anyway.

The problem is that now they've started they have to finish today, can't delay until tomorrow IIRC.
