I agree. Bernie is very very rich, and very very well connected. He is also in his 80s, and so won't have much concern about pulling in some favours from less than pleasant people.

Bernie probably masterminded it. Wouldn't surprise me if the £28m somehow go straight back into his pocket, with the added bonus that he can offset the loss against his taxes.

You are assuming payment into accounts. Plenty of other methods - diamonds, bearer bonds, etc. And you are assuming that the Brazilian govt gives a damn about tracking them down.

Being reported that the 'mastermind' is his old helicopter pilot during the Brazil GPs up to 2014. If this proves to be correct I'm sure he'll be hoping for a long sentence
