997.2 GT3 RS.....sensible buy at the moment?

I guess if I was being sensible I should probably hold off in the short term to get a better idea of where prices are heading.
Yep , sounds like a plan , I can't see prices moving upwards in the short term , at worst (from a purchase perspective) they'll remain roughly where they are , as you say the sensible thing to do is nothing. Easier said than done though ............

I've had a hankering for a 997.2 RS for a while. What's the consensus on current prices, do they make a sensible buy in terms of likely future residuals?
Just wish I'd bought one a few years ago when they were mid £80k's!
The 997.2 GT3 RS is one of those Q cars from the start with no competition bar the 4.0L. If you take a bath on one then the entire market has sunk and there are bigger problems out there in the world. Some cars go up and down but this one has only gone up at a steady rate. Just pick the best spec which is the tough bit.Just wish I'd bought one a few years ago when they were mid £80k's!
There does seem to be a glut of them available just now but all at top money. JZM will have the best ones of that I am sure as if they have it in their shed its the best hence why their stock sets the bar (from experience).
I'll never forget the time I got to borrow one for a couple of days and initially thinking it was similar to a regular GT3, was quite unimpressed until I found an empty road and hit 5000rpm. Wow!
OP I'm pretty sure you are the guy who bid me £40k for my low mileage 550 a few years ago when I was asking £50k. Another one you should have bought!

I guess it's possible but I don't recall ever chasing a 550 - I've always been a little scared of the potential of huge bills on a Ferrari. Still, definitely a car to have bought at the time!! My biggest ever regret was the £47K 996RS which didn't shift for months - again only a few years ago. The market has changed out of all recognition.

Yep - if the want is weak then wait is good. If the want is strong then you are missing out on another summer ...generally speaking I would not expect them to drop massively - at most a dip of a few small £ in the short term which will recover in time and continue to hold strong (imho)...so if buying for short term flip then yes, could be risky. If buying for one of life's great experiences and for the medium to long term (and the want is strong) then I think lower risk than most other things out there. There are only so many summers in our lives to enjoy such fine machines...
They are IMHO the best Porsche that you can buy. The true culmination of everything that made all of the GT3's epic, in one car.

What he said - put so much better than my earlier post. 100% agree ...generally speaking I would not expect them to drop massively - at most a dip of a few small £ in the short term which will recover in time and continue to hold strong (imho)...so if buying for short term flip then yes, could be risky. they have dropped £30k this year ! that's quite a big hit and they are still not selling at these new prices !peak was £200k and now in the £160k's OPC and less private.
A car I have my eye on but no chance risking it atm, we have a few PH members cars for sale which have been SOR all Summer !
most I have ever seen for sale also 9 at 3rd party dealers 5 at OPC's !!! and I dare not think what OPC now bid on these cars must be sub £150k !
OPC's seem always last to the party though like catching a falling knife ! they have a long winter a head of them imo.
