Not been for a year or so and am planning a day at the European Finals. It's a long drive and I want to make the most of one day but not be caught in too heavy traffic . Which makes saturday best - will I miss something I could have seen on sunday? (I'm not bothered who wins anything as I don't follow the sport closely but I love the spectacle) . Advance ticket cheaper but tempted to decide on the night before if I am going or if rain will stop play - if I leave here at 5am I should be there for 8-9am - getting in a problem with queue if I have to buy ticket there?

There will be little difference between Saturday and Sunday - closer to the time look at the eurodragster coverage page, he often posts a provisional schedule.

What you'll miss on Sunday is that its finals day, so everyone will be going as quick as they can. On Saturday they might be protecting engines and/or making "safe" runs to ensure they get through.

8-9am you'll get no problem.

Obviously its all weather dependent, but if you are 4 hours away I'd consider staying over and being there for both days. You'd only need a tent and a sleeping bag, if you didn't want to rough it there must be a few B&Bs nearby. If you stay over you can leave whenever you like on Sunday to avoid traffic and get to see some more racing too.

Big difference in the two days.

Saturday will see probably three Pro rounds of quali - IE three chances to see the pro car you favour.

Sunday is race day - if they go up in smoke at the hit in the first round, you wont see them again that day...

http://www.eurodragster.com/ will post the running order of the meeting as soon as its published.

You shouldn't have a problem getting through the gates at that time, we stay at a hotel down the road from the track and we are usually there around 08:30 ish or just before. Saturday qualifying at the FIA finals is usually a very good day as it is the last chance for many to maximize their qualifying points and in some of the bigger fields make sure they actually qualify.

Two qualifying rounds on each of the Friday and Saturday is more likely as that is the norm.

Surprised entry only has 5 TF and no TF funny cars at all on the list.

Entry's only closed today for the FIA finals so I imagine there will be a few more to add to the list.

Good to see so many UK entries in TF but sadly no Urs, making this possibly the lowest attended round at santa pod for a few years? TMFC looks like it's going to be dropped again with only 1 entry so far and the lack of Scandinavian's in PM is also disappointing. With that said, great to see the brothers back in TMD and the FIM classes look great..again!

It seems to me that the FIA classes have plateaued and it'd be interesting to hear KB's thoughts as santa pod's promotor.

Few more pro mod now... shame about the lack of floppers, but nice to see good showing in tmd for a change.

The nostalgia altereds and apache will more than make up for a couple of missing fia teams, if anyone hasn't seen nostalgia nitro yet, man, those guys know how to put on a show

I bought tickets for the Saturday and Sunday for my mates 30th so looking forward to this. We are staying in Kettering, could anyone suggest where would be the best place to go for a bit of nightlife either on the Friday or Saturday night?

The bar at the track stays open fairly late and they usually have a band playing. This can be quite an experience.

Walking through the pits at night can open eyes as to how much hard work and dedication goes into some racing operations.

I live in Kettering, and so my recommendation is to stay at the track.

Santa Pod appears to have its own micro climate, best indication of weather is actually being there.
The app I use is showing showers which shouldn't put anybody off knowing how hard the track crew work to get the racing surface into a racing condition SHOULD some precipitation fall.

Well , having got a two day ticket (sat/sun )and booked my B and B it looks like I should take a brolly and a good book on saturday . Thankfully sunday promises an improvement . Room for change still- I use met office a lot for other reasons and 3 day forecast can be iffy but 36 hour ones are usually spot on .

Went yesterday - great day, took 500+ photos and stayed for the nitro night show which was awesome ( I froze, camera hated it ).

Wifey has just said I can go again tomorrow - the kids started yelling "yes" so, with a heavy heart, I'll be at the Pod bright and early again. Damn wink
