Just read that Bernie has told Hockenheim that he'll half the race promoter fee - as long as he is the promoter and gets all ticket sales.

How, in any company can that not be seen as conflict of interest? I'd be GPM'd instantly for any deal that benefited me not the company, under any circumstance.

He's an enigma that Ecclestone, he really is!

I disagree about him being an enigma. I believe his motives are clear, and have been from the time he sold off Brabham.

The EU were going to pursue him but, for some reason, enthusiasm waned.

Ahhh yes, Germnay. Who tried to try him for bribery, but he paid off the court so he wasnt found guilty. Out of thanks he cancelled the next years F1 race.

He's pretty transparent.
Money for Bernie = good
Money for others = bad

Bernie is pretty good at what he does. F1 wouldn't be the sport it is without him.

F1 is the sport Bernie wants you to think it is.

Indeed it wouldn't be the sport it is, it would be the sport it's supposed to be, without all these ridiculous rule changes every 5 minutes just because "he can" classic example the mess he made of the qualifying system that was dropped after 2 races with pretty much no prior consultation 5 minutes before the season started.

You wait years for an accurate summary of the result of Ecclestone’s effect on the sport, and two come along together.
