Have I just been banned from driving :( :( UK
Discussion
So last night I was heading up to Darlington on the A168 which is a dual carriageway. Weather wasn't great to be honest and it was just about getting dark, the road was fairly quiet.
Anyway, I was keeping pace with a Q5 for about 5/6 miles driven by a single male in plain clothes. He overtook me at one point doing at least 90+ and didn't even look at me when I glanced briefly to my right.
A couple of a miles later I was in the outside lane, he was on the inside about 15 metres ahead with a lorry fast approaching. Due to the conditions, distance and speed I decided it was safer to just put my foot down a bit and go past him so he could pull in behind me and get passed the lorry also. I may have been doing 110mph+ for this brief moment.
I looked in my rear view to my absolute dismay, he had two flashing blue lights in his grill :O :O !!!! My heart sank!!
I pulled into the inside lane and slowed down expecting to be pulled over, the unmarked car stayed behind me, lights flashing until I'd slowed down then pulled back out overtook me and just continued down the road at some pace. He was probably behind me for 5-10 seconds maybe... No signal for me to pull over or anything, he just disappeared off into the distance. I pulled off at the next available junction in anticipation of him being there waiting for me but he wasn't.
En route to my final destination, I passed several marked police vehicles, none of which pulled me over or even looked twice at me. My car isn't exactly inconspicuous either.
I'm absolutely cr*pping myself here
Cheers,

Don't worry, when you went past he wasn't accurately recording your speed - what woulds he say ? Bloke was going fast . . . I'd be surprised if that was enough for a prosecution or a ban. He'd also more than likely have stopped you if he was going to give a NIP, you'll be OK I suspect.
So it's dark, the weathers crap and you thought the safest option was to do 110mph+ rather than ease off and give him a flash so he could overtake the lorry?
Sounds like you've been a lucky boy but have a word with yourself FFS.

Due to road and weather conditions I drove like a tt.
That is what I was thinking, he looked like he meant business and he had much bigger fish to fry than me. Like I said, I was with him for a fair few miles and had to let him go past me at one point doing 85 I would say, he didn't put his lights on then or even look at me when he overtook.
The court would class it as dangerous driving, I'm absolutely aware of that and by the letter of the law it was I guess. Not trying to make excuses but I'm hoping he appreciated that I increased speed to get passed him so he could tuck in behind me.
I'm hoping it was just a warning to tell me to slow down and stop being a daft bugger!
Still though, going to be a nervous couple of weeks. I've only just got my first RS as well

Absolutely, a very, very poor decision!! I just hope I'm lucky enough to learn from it! It was incredibly stupid...Sounds like you've been a lucky boy but have a word with yourself FFS.

The letter of the law? You're kidding right? You were doing up to 50mph over the limit in conditions you admit weren't good.As you say though, treat it as a learning experience and count yourself a very lucky boy.

As far as i'm aware, even if they had proof on their systems of you doing 100+ mph, they'd have to pull you over and advise you what will happen next. It's not like going through a speed camera where you've gotta wait 2 weeks to see what the outcome would be.
I'd say it was just a bit of a warning not to do something like that again. They were most likely already on a job that took priority and it wasn't worth pulling you over and going through the motions for the sake of quick blip. I'd consider yourself very lucky.
