Great choice. Love these. I'm waiting for my new motor (Golf R) to arrive too. The wait is painful!

My sister just bought one with all the extras and in red too. Replaced a much loved C43. Awesome car to drive and with the best exhaust note ever. It's also a lot less bumpy on our poor roads than my BMW 1 series x Drive

Just out of interest why the a45 over the faster and much better sounding RS3?

We got 8% which is as good as we are going to get here in Northern ireland.

There are better deals on the mainland but the clincher was they had a trade bid of £18K for our 2013 370Z GT, which is £2K better than WBAC were offering.

So what we might have gained in a better discount we might have lost in trade in value on the Z, plus the cost of a couple of flights over twice, plus a ferry home to add in.

Faster? Both have 0-60 in 4.2s and both are limited to 155MPH.

The RS3 has 361BHP, the 2016 A45 has 376BHP.

Though the reality is, its down to personal preference. We preferred the Mercedes.

Both cars are fantastic and stupidly fast for a road car IMO. You can't pick a wrong one.

I just find it interesting why people pick one over the other, I guess the 3 has a unique selling point with the 5 pot wail and performance (they generally dyno at. 390 on SUL and Hits the 60 in 3.6) but they do wash out the front quite quickly and eat more fuel. Whilst you can play with the rear of the 45 with the diffs speced.

Currently I would pick the 45 (with aero pack) as well as I think the 3 looks far to much like.a TDI with changed bumpers.

The A45 was an amazing drive, and when fitted with the performance exhaust is a hoot.

We never really gave the RS3 much serious thought TBH. It wasnt about absolute on the edge performance, just that the overall package was so impressive.

The aero pack was the option we avoided - We thought the boot spoiler looked like a bolt on halfords special afterthought and the little front splitters just looked out of place.

Ordering it for us has been a bit strange. We have been used to a two seater as our main car for almost all of the last 10 years, and a second car thats a more practical shape. So this one will turn our car dynamics on its head.

So off to look at a Porsche Boxster this afternoon to fill the 2 seater gap! driving

Ive just cancelled my CLA45, no doubt they are great fun but for me it's just too quick to drive quickly on the road!

Ordered another CLA and bought a Triumph instead!

Enjoy, cracking little cars though.

Night pack is normally Windows, wing mirrors, 'grills' and removes all 'chrome effect' edging for black, I think that was it .... Can't remember now as it was in German.

Friend has one with Aero and it really is great.

Find it funny when people call cars too fast? Surely you just restrict your right foot - and whilst quick it's still not 650s quick?

Yeah of course you can do that, but take for example my old Mx5 or even the Triumph, I can full throttle through 2nd / 3rd (4th in the Triumph) and barely be reaching 70mph never mind license losing territory, you can fully enjoy using different gears, dropping the gear going into corners, accelerating away, maintaining speed etc; for me you lose that, 'potential' driving style with such a capable and quick car as the A45.

Thoroughly envious and I half wish I had kept mine!

Especially here in Germany where there are cameras everywhere with no warning! (4 times in 12 months here, 0 times in the UK).

Having to constantly show restraint is a bother though.. Being able to just floor the throttle without going into hyperspace instantly is nice.

Obviously the line is going to be different for everyone, but i totally understand the concept of "too fast" for normal traffic.

I ordered my A45 AMG at the end of July and hoping for end of September delivery.....I'm like a kid in a sweetie shop waiting ha ha.

I did the premium pack,exclusive package,dynamic plus package,night package,aerodynamics package and performance exhaust....white with 19" black alloys.....it looks mental.
