Q1 & 6?
Seems odd the
At the questions are so similar.
Yas Marina and Marina Bay are not the same circuit wink
One could argue that 'evening' is the period between 'day and night' though, so you have the same question with 2 different answers.

www.dictionary.com
Evening.
Noun.
1. The latter part of the day and early part of the night.
They are two different questions because one refers to Marina Bay in Singapore (the first evening race) and the other to Yas Marina in Abu Dhabi (a race first held in 2009). That they both have the word Marina in them was probably to catch the nervous contestant out. Apart from that they are the same, you're right, just like Silverstone Circuit and Circuit of the Americas are the same place because they both have the word 'circuit' in their names.

I got 12, because I didn't have the foggiest about the last one.

I got 10 and kicked myself on one - I agree I think it was another post 2000 hardcore F1 fan who seem to neglect that the sport has a history.

I was born in 1985 and the history is one of my favourite bits!

And an even longer one if you look past the rather arbitrary cut off point of the commencement of the World Drivers' Championship.

Didn't get 4 or 13, so a miserable 11 right.

At the risk of being pedantic (its not a risk, its just happening and I am very sorry) - I suppose that was the creation of 'Formula One' as a thing, whilst its sobriquet was Grand Prix racing before.

I guess that's it anyway.

I got 10. I only knew the Stirling Moss one because I did my bike training on part of the old circuit at Aintree. I hadnt realised until after I had finished my course that I had been riding up and down the straight that greats such as Fangio and Clark had raced along. It prompted me to buy a book on the history of F1 races at Aintree.

And being even more pedantic, Formula 1 was set down in its original form in 1946 - four years before the World Championship began. The first British GP to Formula 1 was actually in 1948.

My take on the correct dates are -

Grand Prix racing started - 1906

Grand Prix racing to Formula 1 - 1946 http://silodrome.com/the-first-ever-formula-1-race...

World Drivers Championship - 1950 (mostly run to Formula 1 but two years - 1952 and 1953 - to Formula 2)

World Constructors' Championship - 1958

It was excruciating. I really got the impression that he must have said something on a pub, and his (easily impressed) mates said "You should go on Mastermind with knowledge like that".
I agree it was hard to watch, but not so hard that I didn't see it was a woman!

In which circuit did James Hunt place 3rd in a dramatic finale to clinch the 1975 World Championship after Niki Lauda withdrew, because of dangerous conditions?

Trick question, it was Fuji 1976wink
The question as actually asked was correct.

It was utterly painful to watch.

If the contestant knew anything about pre mid 80's F1 i would be surprised and I'm doubting that they knew much about it pre 00.

I got 12 right and the Mrs got 11. I did mess up on the last one though frown
What did the contestant get?

about 6 - clearly broadly ignorant of Formula One pre 2000 aside from the headline names eg. Fangio

though didn't seem terribly hot on their eras either (put Jim Clark racing very early - cant remember exactly when.

That's only one less than I would have got frown I'm not particularly up on the modern era.
