A tyre contest? I'm torn, but I don't think the sport will risk another Indy-like event as manufacturers would naturally push the boundaries.
That was a one off, caused I expect by the OTT restrictions on testing. Rest of the time it works as long as no tyre manufacturer favours one particular team too much (Schumacher Ferrari /Bridgestone).

Wish they would get rid of DRS. I was more or less in favour when it was introduced, or at least willing to give it a go. Now I'm sick of watching the drivers line up to pass in the DRS zone every lap. It actually detracts from the spectacle because it's so predictable.
Same for the joke tyres. Bring in another manufacturer and let's have a contest.
If there was no DRS, we'd see a significant decrease in overtaking opportunities. Same for the joke tyres. Bring in another manufacturer and let's have a contest.

So you catch the car in front because you're lapping faster than him, then on the longest straight they give you 15 mph extra so you can drive past, it's hardly a thrilling overtake.

I'm not sure about tyres. Aren't we moving towards more equal performance. Same for the joke tyres. Bring in another manufacturer and let's have a contest.
But with you with DRS. It was there to compensate for aero having a massive effect on driveability. Why not limit the front wing to a plank with a regulation airfoil and have other stuff quantified? Then perhaps we can see cars having a tow.

It's fake overtaking without skill. I'd rather give it a miss.
Yep, absolutely no skill required whatsoever...Seriously, do you like DRS? How about push to pass? Reverse grids? Joker laps?
I see the 'literal' crew have turned up
OK, you've got me. I probably couldn't pull off a DRS pass or any other. It does take some degree of skill to get into that one second window, and press the brake pedal at the right time so as to maintain the advantage into the next corner.
It's still too easy and dull.

Sorry, just trying to extract the urea...
I would have agreed in the V8 era. Early Pirellis+unrefined DRS was a bit too much. Indeed, I was a critic myself into the V6T era. But I'm more favourable towards DRS, seeing the races this year where it wasn't so straightforward. The crucial difference has been that the defending driver is able to strategically deploy the electrickery in his arsenal to counter the DRS effect of the attacking driver. The KERS in the V8s was never powerful enough to be used as a defending tactic. Still not great, but I'm coming around to the view that we'll never find a workable solution to the problem of fast cars+great racing.
