Did Lewis hurt you?

Sean: Hey, r11co? I don't know a lot. You see this? All this st?
[Holds up Lewis Hamilton's autobiography, and drops it on his desk]
Sean: It's not your fault.
R11co: [r11co shrugs] Yeah, I know that.
[r11co averts his eyes to the floor]
Sean: Look at me son.
[r11co locks eyes with Sean]
Sean: It's not your fault.
R11co: [r11co nods] I know.
Sean: No. It's not your fault.
R11co: I know
Sean: No, no, you don't. It's not your fault.
[Sean moves closer to r11co]
Sean: Hmm?
R11co: I know.
[r11co stands up, trying to keep distance]
Sean: It's not your fault.
R11co: Alright.
Sean: It's not your fault.
[r11co closes his eyes, he's fighting for control]
Sean: It's not your fault.
R11co: Don't fk with me.
[r11co shoves Sean back]
R11co: don't fk with me, Sean, not you!
Sean: It's not your fault. It's not your fault.
[r11co breaks into sobs. They hug]

Here's a wild theory. Do you think there's a fair bit of arrogance within Mercedes? Lots of talk about Nico being very intelligent that's then mirrored in the press and commentators, you then get an almost derrorgatory commentary from Wolff, like he talks about a child in regards to Lewis and then you get the recent comments from Nico asking him to move over then driving slowly etc.
Maybe it's just me but alot of people (Merc) seem to look down their noses at Hamilton, even after three titles.
I just don't get it he impression that they see Lewis as a talent or F1 great.
I think they view him as one of the best, and wanted him specifically for his star appeal but I definitely think the car has gone to Mercs head in that they have that old Williams mentality that they gave Hamilton his titles more than he has earned them.

They want a star to drive their amazing car but they do give the impression that they want to take as much glory as possible (understandable when they're paying what they are, I guess) and diminish the efforts of the drivers, unlike Ferrari where it all seemed built around the Schumacher myth and they seemed to invest in the identity of their star driver. Compare to Hill vs Villeneuve.

I felt they did the same to Nico, too, though. Probably why they choked when he walked out after "all they had given him" (being Schumi's bh <didn't work out!> and then three years in a pressure cooker with the attitude on four wheels that is Hamilton. Thanks for that guys!). I would love it if Lewis walked too. laugh

I can't believe Hamilton will walk, he wants to win above all else and Merc gives him the best opportunity. It's easy to see why he gets people's backs up but there's no denying his pace, although I can't help feeling that he is his own worst enemy sometimes and I wonder if his occasional below par performances are self inflicted, poor starts aside.

Disrespected?!

(PS. Those who believe LH is above criticism and will shoot any messenger delivering further news about how the sthead from Stevenage has once again put his mouth into gear before his brain need not reply).

We get it - attack the messenger thus avoiding addressing the message. Either take the blinkers off or get back in the stable with the rest of the herd.

Independent link

He used the words in an interview with Channel 4 - talking down his employers who have already apologised to him. Treading on thin ice?

Lewis seems to be the one f'king them over with his comments about goings on within the team, creating the exact narrative you are repeating above with no evidence to back it up except his performances not matching his ego.

Considering there are several ex WDC's who would jump at the chance of a Merc drive and the management have their pick of the paddock at the moment Lewis would be best to keep tight-lipped in public right now and keep his opinions 'in house'. Otherwise he should put his money where his mouth is and go to another team if he genuinely feels that way.

No one was against Lewis this season he just didn't get the job done, yes he had some bad luck but he's also had some good luck in the past so it's swings & roundabouts, he also didn't get the job done when the car was running fine (bad starts) Nico didn't always get it done.

So what if Lewis is the better driver (which I think we all agree on that) he didn't get it done, that's it end of 2016 is done consigned to the history books.

Now 2017 could be a whole different ball game because if the guy in the car next to him isn't quick enough he could find himself fighting the Redbulls & Ferrari's on his own which could cost him another championship, so let's hope he comes back suitably recharged & ready for the fight because if he doesn't (or the cars not good enough) he could find himself in a dogfight.

Yes but the mechanics swap disrupted his team. He clearly inspires those he works with to get behind him, I imagine he gets them together to work as a squad. Win together and lose together mentality. Merc would know that and screwed it up. What he is saying now is part of his negotiations for next year - he is demanding no mechanic changes. He displays his faith in them by saying he wants no changes; each member will feel valued and ultimately perform better than they did for the other guy.

Weasily words by your own admission. There's no tangible evidence to prove that this situation even exists or is contributory to LH's success or failure.

Straw-man argument (see above).

Motivated more by his own paranoia than anything else?! If Lewis genuinely wants to prove that he is the pivotal factor in making a success of a Mercedes F1 car then he should rise above his own conspiracy theories, because he would be the one constant in a set of changes motivated by reasons that shouldn't matter to him, unless he genuinely believes the team has it in for him in which case he would be better served by packing his bags and making a fresh start elsewhere.

Nico is history, so why does any of this matter to Lewis? Wait and see should be his modus operandi. Be a 'team-player' and the team might even take on-board his input in choice of new driver, rather than bad-mouthing them in public, no?
