I assumed the same. Difficult to prove as the practice times won't always represent their best effort.
I think a driver's ability to adapt to changeable wet conditions might be a good indication of the ability to find the limit. But on that basis Button might be the best driver in recent years.
Notwithstanding a driver isn't doing his job if not fully exploiting all information available to him.
Thing is, we don't know how much Hamilton also benefitted from lifting info. from Nico's data - there were weekends where Nico looked to be in a class of his own, but would be pipped to pole by Hamilton. That suggests they both learned a lot from each other's data.I think a driver's ability to adapt to changeable wet conditions might be a good indication of the ability to find the limit. They both learned from each other and who can blame any driver for not using what is allowed to them... but Lewis has said for a long time; he'd sooner not share data - as he feels the other driver, on balance, always benefits the most. He's not the only one to say it either... as has been said here previously. There were some weekends where Button was nowhere and would copy / paste, Lewis's settings and then be flying. Hamilton has an uncanny ability for car setup; despite the odd faux pas'. Again, can't blame Nico or Bottas, going forward, using that data if it's allowed to them. That's part and parcel of it all.
Always been the way - and all drivers benefit from what their team-mate does. He's protesting too much on this one - almost like it's an excuse for losing last year... and I do wonder if the simulator time over winter has shown Bottas to be uncomfortably quick, so it's time to get the excuses in nice and early.
Alonso, a winner of 32 grand prix and one of the biggest stars in F1, also gave a withering response to his old rival Lewis Hamilton's recent observation that he regretted the amount of data-sharing in F1 because he felt it allowed his team-mates to learn from him.
Alonso said: "If he was watching more data from Rosberg last year, maybe he would have won the championship."

Thats the point perhaps, the quality of data jnr. was able to add was worth less than that which he took away?Alonso said: "If he was watching more data from Rosberg last year, maybe he would have won the championship."
Anyway, alonso has a very selective memory doesnt he? 2007 and alonso wanting to hide setup data from his too-hot-to-handle noob teamate anyone?

Schuey was something else ... there's no denying. That's why it's a shame that he tainted his legacy with some stty / horrid tactics. There's also no denying that either. Doesn't take away from what a genius driver he was.
This is correct. MSC was in a class of 1 throughout his career.I'm just grateful that he was occasionally given a decent battle from Mika and Fernando.
Would have been pretty dull otherwise.

Plenty of other drivers could have won if they had been in the Ferrari and MSC had been in their cars.
Age old thing, the car blurs the difference between drivers.
Not saying MSC wasn't one of the best, just that it's not possible to ever say a driver is in a class of 1

Seriously thats a pretty fanboy daft statement, ms was an exceptional talent and others may have choked where he suceeded but there were a few other great drivers any halfabout F1 fan could name, and he and his record were flattered by some of the more controversial aspects of his career.
