Ha, Lewis Hamilton is basically exactly the same as a Slavic thug:

That's a good theme for an album - "pictures of LH squatting like a Slav on things he owns."

Anthony Hamilton talking about Bottas being alongside his son in 2017.

"Anybody who goes up against Lewis needs to have planned their career correctly because it could be a career-ending move when you go up against Lewis," Hamilton Snr told Sky Sports News HQ.

As modest as ever.

Exactly, with the arguable exception of Alonso, he's hardly overshadowed any of his team mates let alone harmed their careers.

He's not wrong though

Alonso - I like Nando. But Lewis went toe to toe with him, benefitting from McLarens no team orders. Not comprehensive, but he wasn't demolished by FA
Kovalinen - Where is he now?
Button - Outscored him consistently. JB was near the end of his career tbf
Rosberg. He deservedly won the title last year, but over the time shared at Mercedes LH scored more and won more.

Bottas closes equivalent on that list is Heikki. (and not just on passports) I don't expect anything other that what Hamilton Sr said. Any expectation that VB is a "World champion in waiting" will be gone at the end of this year.

Lewis may be a bit of a plum at times. But he's still a brilliant driver and I don't get why some people want to do him down the whole time confused

Lewis is brilliant. On track, 9/10 races he is a sensational driver. For whatever reason he drops the ball at a few races, no big issue, he is human - and still gets P2/3.

I can see the attraction for Bottas - his best chance of race wins in the near future is at Merc, not Williams. Even if (worse case) he does a year at Merc and reverts to Williams he will have taken himself against one often top 2/3 drivers, maybe got a win (or 2,3,4) and be back in a Williams, now with Paddy at the technical helm. No bad outcome for either.

The RB and Ferrari weren't even remotely as dominant as the Mercedes has been.

The only comparable car would be the MP4/4 - and that only happened as McLaren Honda were the only team to develop a new turbo car for the last year of the old turbo regulations.

You could potentially cite the Mansell Willams Renault, too, but I'm not even sure that was as dominant as the Mercedes - and he was up against a driver who couldn't get their head around the suspension tech.

Common misconception.

I raced karts as a kid. We often beat people that are now full on names / ex names in F1, Le Mans, IMSA, ELMS, WEC, DTM and That cool jap GT500 series. At one point, locally we were very much in the "top 3 to beat" category. Nationally, we could expect podiums.
I have a history of track days - not as fewquent as I'd like but still kept my eye in.

Lets be blunt. ANY decent club racer would beat me into the ground so hard it'd be embarassing. An ELMS Gold driver would make me look like such a gump it's untrue. A Platinum? Wow. Each step (each fraction of a second) is an exponential improvement. Your gran could beat him? bks. I'm probably In the top 10% of UK citizens and I'd struggle to keep up with the safety car.

Take Karting as an example. You've got a grid of 25-30. All but the real novices can do 1.25's. 20 can do 1.24's. 10 can do 1.23's. 5 can do 1.22.5's. the top 3 can do 1.22.2. All in identical equipment. The closer to the limit, the smaller the differnence between best and not.

In F1,people look at the telly and think "well it's just the car" - and [within that specific tiny minority that have the ability] it IS just the car. Thing is, ex F1 people like Coulthard Herbert etc simply can't drive them now. Drivers that have a single year off can't drive them. They are so far beyond our perception of what is doable it's daft. To be an average F1 driver is not a sign that the person is somehow akin to your gran - rather they're in possession of an 11.75" dick in a world where mandingo's is 12".

Unlikely, she's only got the use of one arm, so wouldn't be able to use DRS. P4/5 most likely.

Archie Scott Brown managed with only one usable arm and dodgy legs.

Sure, but more buttons to press these days. I'm not saying that my 68 year old mum wouldn't win, I'm just saying that in her current state she is more likely to be midfield.

I should have included a blah because I was only being facetious. ASB was a 1950s driver and would struggle to get a modern F1 car to even move. Given his disabilities he was a phenomenal driver though.

I'd guessed, hence my similarly facetious reply wink
