Dont know how Zak Brown will do anything more than Ekrem Sami (CEO McLaren Marketing), who for the past three seasons has 'employed' Zak Brown to help find McLaren new Partners. It isn't the product ie F1, it has been McLaren offering nothing new, the price being too high and drivers who are just not global enough. 2017 will be even harder. I still think the owners want to sell off the F1 side quickly and concentrate on the areas of McLaren that can be floated on a stock exchange.
Ekrem Sami has stepped down from the board of McLaren Technology Group.

He had nowhere to go. And as others have said, Zak's essentially cut out the middle-man

It's now being reported that Jost Capito is to leave the team, having only joined them in September.

It was but right now they do seem to be doing their very best to throw out babies with bathwater.

Not nice to see the Team imploding this way but that is what appears to be happening.

Alonso must be seething right now.

Why is this "imploding"?

Boss shoved out by a boardroom coup precipitated by personal grievance.

Long standing employees let go.

Respected new appointees let go because of who appointed them.

Looks more like the night of the long knives than a formula one team and car manufacturer.

Will be interesting to see what effect this all has. To be honest I was not over concerned but with Capito also being show the door it appears, on face value, that politics are driving the changes more than anything else right now.

Jost has done more for McLaren in the past 2 months than anyone can remember happening in the past 5 years put together. Things were just starting to look like they're improving...

I know a lot of people in the MTC are bitterly disappointed with this.

Seems like a vindictive witch hunt to purge itself of anything Ron. Perhaps they should rename themselves Stalin Racing

The manner in which Ron was ousted leads me to believe he's not done yet. He isn't the type of guy who gives up.

All the majority shareholders are doing is ensuring that it won't be easy for him (or indeed, the "same" McLaren) if Ron ever gets it back.

From what I've been told it's something like this;

Ron finally accepted that 'his way' wasn't working. Jost was hired and was told to do whatever it takes to get the team back to the front of the grid.
He spent a few months just talking to the staff and finding out exactly what was going on in the business. Turns out things weren't as rosey as himself or Ron had been led to believe by the rest of the management team. Cue him planning substantial changes which knocked a few noses out of joint. Apparently there was some kind of power struggle and Jost got kicked out.

Seems they managed to maintain the status quo for now but the normal staff are not at all happy with it and have a lot of admiration for Jost.

I suggested it too - next thing to see is if he takes Jenson and Honda with him

This is in the Italian press, so how reliable is it?

Jenson is retired.

But Honda have said that they will make a decision by may on the 2nd team. Manor would make sense in many ways.

Would be funny if all that happened and they did a Brawn and exploited a loophole in the new regs.

Could even make it a really silly set of rumours and have Ross Brawn to run the team with Ron!
Who else with winning experience is floating about who could also be drafted in to make a kind of old hand, out of retirement dream team!?

[This is of course all caveated with only including those who Ron hasn't fallen out with but then he did tempt Alonso back....]
