Would be funny if all that happened and they did a Brawn and exploited a loophole in the new regs.

Could even make it a really silly set of rumours and have Ross Brawn to run the team with Ron!
Who else with winning experience is floating about who could also be drafted in to make a kind of old hand, out of retirement dream team!?

[This is of course all caveated with only including those who Ron hasn't fallen out with but then he did tempt Alonso back....]
It is probably silly season. No actual news, so in that void, etc...

Ok, My forecast for Manor, one of the drivers within two years will be an Indonesian driver Sean Gelael. Not sure if Ron will be the owner ....

Pat Symonds seems to be at a loose end next year wink

That was a good read.
Thanks for posting..
Agreed! Great article, Brundle as articulate as ever and pretty much bang on IMO. Thanks.

See my post on the other thread. I have checked with someone who would know and they mentioned that Manor and another team have been linked to 'Indonesia'. If the other team really is in the frame I'll be surprised, frankly.

I suggested it too - next thing to see is if he takes Jenson and Honda with him
Jenson is retired.
So is Massa

Put a lid on the JB talk. F1 is finished with him, he's had his years, time for younger/better drivers.
Onto Massa... Speechless.

In other news McLaren has disposed of its share in the catering business, Absolute Taste.

http://www.oneevent.management/single-post/2017/01...

This reduces the group to just the F1 team, the GT distribution business, the applied tech company, the marketing business and a fan club.

That was expected as Absolute Taste was really Lindy Redding and Ron Dennis.

I view this as simply more of Ron's old contacts being swept away.

Looks like Manor might be about to fold, so not sure if RD would have any interest.

That would explain why Pascal went to Sauber.

Dave Ryan (long time McLaren) ran Manor last year, I wonder if the long term plan was for Manor to be the McLaren B team and with Ron gone, that has now ended.

The valuable part - the name and entry into the F1 championship for 2017 - isn't part of this. It may well be that a couple of the interested parties may have decided it would be better to buy it out of administration and build from there. Which makes the RD story more plausible, especially if this removes the obstacle of acquiring a team that has already inked an engine deal with a competitor.....

If the objective you're hinting at is to build a Manor with a Honda engine, it's far too late on both the Honda and the Manor side to do that.

The perfect combination, a st chassis, the worst engine on the the grid, and an owner/manager with a god complex who's well past his prime, what could possibly go wrong?

Sounds like the clear out continues with Jost Capito being shown the door now

Lets see what happens after the first test = I wouldn't be surprised to see Alonso just walk out in disgust after a few laps of testing if/when he finds out the new car is another mid-grid to back of the grid un-reliable tugger (again).

I'd heard that too. I'm not surprised, a friend worked with him at Ford. Very popular guy there.
