Tyre Choices

Drivers' Championship Permutations

Rosberg Champion:

ROS 1st
ROS 2nd
ROS 3rd
ROS 4th, 5th or 6th, HAM 2nd or lower
ROS 7th or 8th, HAM 3rd or lower
ROS 9th or lower, HAM 4th or lower

Hamilton Champion:

HAM 1st, ROS 4th or lower
HAM 2nd, ROS 7th or lower
HAM 3rd, ROS 9th or lower

If ROS has a DNF, HAM must finish in the top 3, 4th will see them level on points but give the championship to ROS on 2nd place countback.

Constructors' Championship

- Mercedes, Red Bull and Ferrari have secured the top 3 positions respectively
- Force India and Williams will finish either 4th or 5th, although Force India now have a 27 point gap, so it's unlikely Williams will catch them
- McLaren are 12 points clear of Toro Rosso in 6th and 7th respectively, the final positions are unlikely to change unless Manor can score points

My predictions: HAM to win. ROS to leap out of the way of VES and another, before trundling home 4th.

fine by me! Hamilton would be champion!!!!!

seriously though, hopefully Hamilton wins, hes done all he can do then, but I think his only hope of the championship is reliability to hit nico.

im going for Hamilton to get taken out by nico in the first corner, massive Mercedes fall out, they sack rosberg and promote werhlein

Sounds plausible wink

Just as likely to be a curtailed race due to rain and half points awarded.

ETA: whilst we are being super serious and all that, I hear that the people of Dubai don't like the Flintstones, but the people of Abu Dhabi do.

Mercedes 1-2 with the championship decided by a boring trundle around as no one can overtake. A fitting tribute to Rosberg's WDC.

Sadly yes I fear this will be the case. No way the Red Bulls or Ferraris will be able to touch Mercedes at this circuit :-(

You never know, if may be another lousy start by Hamilton and such the season ends as it began. Which would at least be a more fitting end, if Rosberg actually wins the final race.

I know all races are equal, but if Rosberg becomes champion, I'd like him to do it with an emphatic win. Just to shut us all up.......

HAM to qualify on pole, ROS second, then the Red Bulls and Ferraris.
RIC to get infront of ROS in to turn 1.
The remainder of the race runs mostly as HAM-RIC-ROS.
Final lap, camera cuts to Rosbergs family cheering and opening champagne in the pitlane.
Last corner, VES stuffs it up the inside of ROS and demotes him to fourth.

As I mentioned on the previous race thread, there was some tech talk about Mercedes front suspension this year suiting Rosberg better than Hamilton.

There's a short film on Sky's website in which Mark Hughes explains how things have changed to favour Rosberg.

Red Bull are missing a trick... they seem to have a sense of humour.

They should announce the return of Timo Glock for a one race special.

No more or less fitting than it would be either way. Just as for the last two years.

Lots of Rosberg fans on here I see!

I genuinely want to see Rosberg take the championship and realistically, should he have a clean race with no mechanical issues, its his for the taking.

I think it'll be a Merc front row with HAM in pole and it'll stay like that throughout.

If you were Rosberg I wonder if you'd even want Pole with the added risk of Hamilton trying to push you wide into turn 1 and screwing up your race. I guess on balance of starts, and with strategy priority it's still what you're after.

Though if Hamilton qualifies ahead and has any sense, he'll be backing Rosberg into anyone and everyone. He needs Rosberg to have an utterly miserable race just as much as he needs to win.

I hope it isn't like 2014 with some intermittent electrical fault appearing on one of the cars.

I basically agree, but I recall one moment when Rosberg really endeared himself to me at this circuit in 2014 when his ERS failed- the team wanted to retire him but he was determined to finish no matter what, despite the fact he was going backwards... So I don't even need to see him win really. I have spent most of the season wanting Hamilton to take it but I have come to terms with the idea of a Rosberg championship. If he wins I'd say he deserves it.

I wonder if this championship has a couple more twists to come. Wouldn't it be great if it was on a knife-edge right up to the end? (unlikely I know).

I agree. Championships are won and lost on reliability, and worse, (for example James Hunt's WDC). I think Rosberg has done quite a lot to be deserving of this WDC if he gets it.

Hamilton and Rosberg on the front row, tangle at first corner, Rosberg out on the spot. Hamilton limps around for new nosecone, then spends the rest of the race trying to carve his way up to third place.....
