Is consistency not a driver skill?
I should imagine it goes a bit wider than skill, to include temperament, and possibly other factors.

I do not understand the context of your post. Dropping one round would make no difference in F1 today.
I suspect Hamilton would disagree if he had had the opportunity to drop the Malaysia round.

I'd possibly agree. Shame the WDC standings doesn't back that up; given that some here believe the standings to be a real and true reflection of rank. I mean, Alonso; tenth best!? I don't think so.

though results are objective, sport itself is a most subjective activity, that's why we don't all support Real Madrid CF. Let's allow folks to hold their different opinions smile

Why? He scored no points in at least one more race than that, so makes no difference. It only makes a difference if you score in all races.

So you still have not answered the direct question above. Of the two Mercedes drivers, who is the better driver, Hamilton or Rosberg?

Abit like F1 this is just going round in circles; unlike F1 there will be no winner.

Chum, please! hehe

A chap stated you needed car performance, car reliability, and driver skill. I just suggested you also need diver consistency, which is sort of equivalent to car reliability in my mind. Max performance, delivered as often as possible, equally applicable to car and driver. Nothing to do with your favourite driver.

I support Alonso, but I don't need to spend 70 pages arguing on the internet to know he is better (in my mind) than Nico Rosberg. You guys need to take a chill pill.

Hamilton is the best driver. Alonso is the best driver. This year, to Nico fans, Nico was definitely the best driver. Nothing wrong with any of that. smile

Agreed. To determine the best driver you have to remove all the noise of reliability and relative car performance. The WDC obviously does not do that. All it does is determine who has scored the most points in the season, totally ignoring relatve car performance and reliability. Over the last three seasons only two drivers had a shot at the WDC, it does not mean they are the two best drivers.
Yes but it's a team game isn't it?

The past rules where you could drop the worst round in each half of the season (hence mitigating the reliability issue) are pooh-poohed now. And you don't want to ignore a pooh-pooh.
In the end, we had to disband mclaren
morale totally destroyed...
By poo poo !

Race of Champions... probably the only time the drivers from different teams are on the same track in the same car.

PS Button would beat Hamilton every time in the same car, as he did..
Button was got more points than Alonso until they gave Alonso all the new parts first...
