yes He actually is. I do wonder if some of these guys are actual psychopaths of if they've built up some kind of self-hypnosis style of mindset that doesn't let them compliment others in ways that might upset their worldview. I've been trying to like Lewis for years but he makes it so hard.

It's equally also possible that Hamilton knows about some behind the scenes Merc stuff that he can't talk/is unhappy about and it's coming out in this way because he can't tell us what he really thinks.

Some might not agree, but I always got the impression that Nico tended to come off worse in inter-team politics in the first two years (from Bahrain-onwards, when Lewis was chopping his nose off, and Spa when he put his elbows out and let his nose get chopped off... and got a smack down) despite his being there forever, but that it seemed reversed in 2016 when he clumsily forced Lewis off the track or was caught in the 50/50 in Spain.

  • edit* But even if the above is true- fk it, he's retired! Let it go, wish the guy well and crack on with a teammate who'll you'll almost certainly have one up on. Unless it's maybe Alonso. No wonder Rosberg retired. Can you imagine going to your telesales job every day and having Lewis Hamilton at the next desk trying to win salesman of the year? Life is definitely too short for that!

Why?

Because he's insults someone he calls a friend? Just for starters.

Hamilton's a disingenuous tt. Has been for a long time and always will be. The worst thing for me about Rosberg retiring is that it wasn't Hamilton.

When even Jackie Stewart call him a 'ballerina' (probably meant Prima Donna but that's old age I guess) you just know he's gone to far.

Schuey was a cheating, disingenuous, tt... still a legend. Senna was too... still a legend. See what I'm getting at? One difference between Rosberg and Hamilton, other than class, which is debatable, is that one will be a legend of the sport and one won't be. And your opinion, or mine, will be but dust in the wind...

Chill. You analyse someone in front of a camera and twist a whole interview on how he started an answer?

There really are some haters on here.

How many times has someone analysed what you've said?

No offence to Jackie but hid comments/opinion dated from a time when he disproved of Lewis's crashing.

Lewis never carried on racing whilst a man burnt to death as he passed.

It fell to other drivers to stop and forget their race.

So balerina? Better that than selfishly think of oneself. Harsh but true.

There does seem to be a positive correlation between how great an F1 driver is and how much of a cock they are, I can certainly see it in Verstappen, he is destined for great things.

Be good to see someone like verstappen in the Merc and get rid of Hamilton after that Abu Dhabi ritual...he should be sacked !
Why are you posting in an F1 forum if you blatantly don't understand Motorsport?

Haha: you may have a point there! I think there is an almost blind will to win and these legends / potential legends cannot comprehend losing; they're sickened by it.

He said "little ballerina"; he knew what he was saying - in his opinion Hamilton is not the Prima Donna, but a small girl who is at the back of the stage falling over a lot.

Seeing as someone has brought him into the discussion, Sir Jackie was (and is) an immensely talented driver and champion, but who can also be a bit of an opinionated cock, so there does seem to be something in that
hehe

What is that old expression...would you rather be forgotten, or hatefully remembered?

That's because he's never had the opportunity. If such an event ever happens, and heaven forbid that it does, then we'll see how he deals with it.

But I agree. He is a cock.

Thanks, actually I'm compiling some pics for the whole season which I'll post as a new thread. I'll do something for JB and Massa there. smile

It's entirely possible to admire Hamilton's racing ability and at the same time acknowledge that he can indeed be a prize pillock.
The two are not mutually exclusive.

Indeed, it's rare to find a winner who isn't a cock. Button and maybe Rosberg in recent times, Nico more for his actions and words over the last couple of months.

Yes, although Max definitely has a sharper sense of humour than Hamilton, and doesn't take himself too seriously. Still destined for great success.

^ very nice post. What a journey these guys go on. The dedication from a young age is unbelievable.
Yes I agree with the above from Dr Z very well said. I remember a lot of those plus points on his way up in his career and from what I read he always came across as a very smart intelligent chap as well as quick / veryfocused on the job of being an F1 driver and he did very well on his debut in a poor car.

Look at the stats in the past 3 yrs Nico had 6 mech failures to Lewis 7', very even.

He is a deserved WDC and should be given some respect for chosing the right moment to retire he reached his goal and is off to pursue different/more important things in life with his family. Well done Sir.

Massa? (when he was winning of course). Brazil 2008 was a class act. Ditto Barrichello?

But again; you mention drivers that aren't WDC's / multiple WDC's. I was saying if you look back; divisive characters like Schuey and Sennna also became legends. There's a definite correlation there. The hatred I remember, toward Senna; and the adulation... history does have a habit of repeating itself; despite a new era. Some of the classless / downright disgusting in some cases / moves these guys did would have half of pistonheads frothing at the mouth! It's a tamer era when we complain about the way something is worded in a press conference or Hamilton backing his rival into the pack...

I was just going on winners in general that aren't a cock. Massa is not a WDC, but he is in spirit.

I was never a fan of Senna, I preferred Prost/Mansell in the early 90's, though I admired his skill later.

Whilst not entirely relevant; out of interest, how can one be a WDC in spirit? Isn't it the numbers on the board at the end of the day?
