There is no doubt that Nico was pushing Hamilton all season.
Will be interesting to see if Lewis slows down a bit in 2017, especially if Merc choose a rookie alongside

A friend of mine seems to think that Mercedes made a deal with Rosberg. The deal goes that Rosberg gets the world title this year and helps Hamilton get it next year. Hence the mechanics being changed and Lewis' car constantly breaking down. One of the mechanics on Hamiltons' side is a saboteur. Being the typical German Rosberg got his win and quit, deciding not to honour his side of the deal.
Quite a few of my mates spout un informed crap as well so don't worry about it, as i allways tell them, an uninformed opinion is worth about 3/4 of buuger all.

What a fking crock of st.

By definition, you're demeaning anyone who doesn't have a family; either by choice or because they can't.

People like you really fk me off. You're like the politicians bking on about 'hard working families'.
What he said, actually, is very firmly on the nail. Your hateful, bitter , twisted spouting tends to show that . You are plainly a sad individual.

Hope they put someone in the car who can really challenge on the track, not a number 2 yes man. Let's face it, without Nico, the last three years would have been ste.

Ho hum.
Me too and TBH i will loose a little bit of racing respect for Lewis if he lets it happen, he's allway been very vocal about having a class teammate to go up against, it would be extreamly 2faced if he sat there quietly and took a 4th championship with a dedicated number 2 driver in the 2nd seat IMHO.

Well good for him. He did what he set out to do and now I suspect he has other things he wants to do and achieve.
I have all kinds of thoughts on the reasons behind his decision and for me at least not wanting to put up with Hamilton for another year might well be one of them.
For all those who are maligning him I would say spend a single lap fighting against people like Hamilton at 200mph and then think what you could do with your amassed £millions (estimated net worth above £30 million!- interestingly Jenson Button £100 million!).
Besides for all Hamiltons flouncing, squabbles with everyone he works with, petulance and poor personal judgement his driving ability does not make him a nice person.
I expect his music career is only supported by those who want some of his money and for all his worth and although it is his personal choice I wonder if sometimes the same thing happens with those he mixes with and who sell him clothes..if ever there was a modern day ‎"Kejserens nye Klæder" ("Emporers New Clothes") then Hamiltons pride and vanity off track and petulance at the track are it.
And for Christ Sake Hamilton keep still on the podium when the National Anthem is played, stop preening your self and looking for a mirror and be respectful. Part of your job is to set an example to others on how to behave and conduct yourself. Keep your questionable sportsmanship for the track...
I hear that it may be 50/50 that Mercedes keep him on after his actions at the last race and previous history. Keeping sponsors happy and public relations high is more than just winning races.
I do wish Jenson Button stayed on and took over Rosbergs seat as when he was in the same team and in the same car as Hamilton he did seem to win more !
Replace Rosberg with Max Verstappen and I bet he wins more races. He might yet next year even if he stays at Red Bull!

It's a shame, I'm going to two gp's next year and no reigning WDC to watch. Not a massive loss really. quite like Nico Rosberg, but would have been a bigger loss to racing if Lewis had resigned purely from a race watching point of view.

I have never really rated Rosberg and thought Lewis would walk it since signing for Mercedes.

If Alonso or another top driver joins Mercedes in 2017 and Lewis wins the Championship then he can state he is the best driver on the grid.

Perhaps then the non fans and doubters will be less vocal.
Two things: you underestimated Rosberg; he's always been very very quick. So your opinion on him was wrong. And regarding Lewis and Alonso; we've already seen that partnership... Was Hamilton beating Alonso, in only his first season, not enough?

I was fortunate to be at the Autosport Awards yesterday (04/12). Nico Rosberg should be made the FIA Ambassador to our Sport.

He was dignified, interested in the junior category awards and spent time chatting to some of our up and coming talents. A class act.

(ps: Lewis sent Nic Hamilton to get his award.......)
Off topic but I would expect that's because Lewis was at Aki Hintsa's funneral today in Ähtäri (Finland).

Probably not now, as we've got the 'new' numbering rules these days where drivers choose their number or number 1 if they won the championship.

0 is the default number for the car for the WDC car if they don't complete the next year

Given drivers can choose their number, so I guess that the second mere car would be "0" if the incoming driver was not from the current line up and opted to have the FIA issue them a number (I don't think number selection is mandatory)?

Damon Hill carried a 0 on his car two years running in the 90s, because the system then in place allocated numbers to teams not drivers. So each team kept their numbers for evermore regardless of the comings and goings of the drivers. When a driver won the championship and got to carry the no 1 for the next year, the other driver would get no 2 and their old numbers would go to whatever team had carried 1 and 2 the year before.

This would apply even if the champion had changed teams in the meantime. (For example Nelson Piquet winning in a Williams and taking the number 1 to Lotus, MSC taking it from Benetton to Ferrari etc.) If the driver left F1 entirely, then the number 1 was 'retired' for a year and replaced with a 0. Thus Damon Hill carried the 0 in 1993, the year after Mansell went to Indycars (Prost should have had it but he refused), and also in 1994, the year after Prost retired.

But as has been said, every driver now has his own number which they keep for their entire f1 career, so whoever replaces Rosberg will simply bring his with him.

(Hopefully 33.)

Sorry Rosberg was not a top driver. He was fast but the car was the main reason.

Alonso tied Lewis at the end of the 2007 Championship. McLaren were fully behind their young prodigy come mid season after Alonso and Ron's relationship blew up.
