My apologies. Too early, no coffee. Sorry.

If Bottas is Merc's idea of brave, well.

They probably thought Nico was edgy and raw.

I'm hoping for vettel. Good match for Hamilton, would certainly create some fireworks. Plus he's not happy with the cigarette salesman in charge of his F1 team and wants out.

But I can see it being a number 2. They'll still get WCC and WDC with Lewis and someone else getting top 4 most other races.

Perhaps we are all jumping the gun thinking the Mercedes will be the car to beat in 2017.

You just never know until the season gets going who is in the best position for 2017.

It would be a shock if Mercedes were not however.

With the changes to aero and tyres, and no doubt some teams giving up early on 2016 to concentrate on 2017, I wouldn't be that surprised to see a shakeup.

The betting companies still view Merc as the company to beat next year.

http://www.nicerodds.co.uk/formula-one-constructor...

They have Mercedes as clear favourites, Red Bull a close second, Ferrari a distant third but amazingly McLaren 4th followed by Renallt and then Force India.

Those last couple look like poor predictions especially McLaren based on the past few years.. might be worth a early flutter betting on final team position.

What do you all think ?

I don't get the McLaren prediction either... they've talked themselves up one too many times. Would be great if it came to pass!

The way I'd look at those predictions is that the bookies are saying the championship is going to be won by either a works team or by Redbull, which doesn't seem unreasonable.

Basically if Mercedes still have the best engine, they'll win; if Honda somehow come up with the best engine Mclaren will win; if Renault come up with the best engine Redbull will win unless the works Renault team score some enormous packaging advantage with the new unit (and that that is highly unlikely).

Most likely teams like Williams will be faster than Renault, but that doesn't mean the chances of Renault winning the championship are lower than those of Williams because Williams are so unlikely to be able to beat Mercedes with the same power unit.

The bookies don't know their arse from their elbow with F1.

I took £2500 off them for a £50 bet when Button won the championship after I saw the car run the first time on its shakedown and placed a bet as it looked so good. laugh

Who ever replaces Nico I hope that the BS within the Merc team stops, the anti LH social media BS stops and it is all about the racing and the racing is hard and close. No more processions, team orders and drivers moaning.

If you're not first you're last!

well that clears that up

only person we haven't heard from is Alonso himself

I would bet it all if he was offered he would go 1 million %

Will this suffice?

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/127483...

Addressing staff at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking on Tuesday morning, Alonso moved to reassure his colleagues.

"I believe in this project," he said. "I'm committed and I want to be world champion with McLaren-Honda. That's my only goal."

fair enough

but like I said IF he was offered the drive

anyway what a shame it didn't happen

we can all go back to sleep soon ...after the speculation of who takes bottas seat ends as well
