The first photograph of stricken Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher since his accident is being hawked around Europe for £1million.
An investigation is under way into who took the picture at the German driver's palatial home in Geneva, Switzerland and how they managed to smuggle it out under the nose of his manager and nursing staff.

The gentleman trying to sell the pictures is a friend "some friend"

Disgraceful.

The best thing the press could do here is to name this 'friend' publically.

I was wondering if it was an official picture when first hearing about it but unfortunately not.

I have no idea why a "friend" would try and sell a picture knowing full well he would be exposed and the friendship lost.

Unfortunately even someone like Michael Schumacher is finding out who his real friends are.

Never had too much time for the chap after his stunt in the final race of 1994.

Found myself feeling irrationally sad when I hear what drivers of his era are doing now. Such a shame.

Cannot express how deeply flawed the character of this chance must be.

Disgusting - and shame on whoever buys it. If it's the family wish to not have the picture out there then that should be that. But it's not the world we live in.

Whilst what is betrayal by a friend is about as bad as it gets, the real problem is that people will buy or read the newspaper/periodical that publishes it.

Eh? Your entire post makes absolutely no sense at all. Would you like to have another attempt?

Depends how desperate they are.

Not saying it's right - just saying it happens.

I've been wondering how long it would take before something like this would occur. Like many it seems, I'm puzzled as to how the family (namely Mrs Schumacher) is handling the situation. They seem overly obsessed with hiding the true scenario. Yes, one can immediately argue privacy, and rightly so, but surely, if they handled things in a more pro active way , in the context of releasing periodically the status of the patient, and the longer term prognosis , then surely, this would help stem the avalanche of curiosity their secretive behaviour seems to actively help foster ?

All in all though, not a good situation.

I have thought the exact same regarding the family.

When you have made a lot of money while in the public eye it is only natural that that same public would want to have updates regarding the situation at hand.

It is a very fine line as no doubt if pictures were released some distasteful individuals would print tasteless meme's or something along that lines.

I am sure if Schumacher was looking well and like his old self the pictures would have been released well before now by the family.

Unfortunately secrecy will tend to allow people to make a quick buck if the opportunity arises.

I am sure if you watch the clip again Hill could have waited and not dived alongside Michael when it was clear he was not going to make the pass.

If Hill had waited he would have won the Championship.

Error of judgement on Hill's part.

If you look over the incidents between Schumacher and Hill it is Hill who has take Michael out more.

It was Hill's fault for not knowing that MS would deliberately take him out. It was hill's fault for not realising the extent of the damage to MS' car. It was Hill's fault for overtaking. He was rubbish that Hill.

Unashamed attempt to divert this rather sad thread with some pictures of how we would rather remember him

They aren't worth anything - no publication wants to be associated with them.

Apologies if this sounds a bit morbid but is anyone interested in seeing the pictures so we actually know what condition the man is in now and how he's progressing, or if he's even progressing at all? I know I am.

Not really. I can't tell anything much from a photo that isn't already known, less still do anything about it. He is in a bad way and will probably never recover.
