My brother and I went in 2013/14/15. For qualifying in 2013 we slipped into the stands at Turn 12, which obviously gives a good view of one of the best overtaking points on track. I would argue that Turn 15 is probably a little better, as it affords a better view up the back straight. You don't spend the whole race craning your neck. Our actual tickets for all three years was in Turn 5. It gives you a good view of the cars coming down out of Turn 1 and through the esses to Turn 6. You can also look across the infield to see the Turn 12-13-14-15 complex. There is also a big screen in the infield right in front of you, so you can watch the TV feed. The farther to the right hand end of that grandstand (NE end), the better. If you are up on top or on the very end, you can look over your shoulder to Turn 6-7-8-9. Interestingly, the stuff on Formula1.com only shows Turn 4 grandstands. I know they were downsizing their grandstands in the 2015 time frame, and we didn't go this past season as I don't live in San Antonio anymore, so I can't speak to the current state of things on that side of the track.

I have been a couple of times and sat in the Turn 12 grandstand. Great view of the corners into the hairpin and most of the long straight.

That said I haven't sat anywhere else so can't guarantee they are the best. I am also going this year so will see you there!

In the past I have found a website that has great info about the grandstands at the F1 circuits including photos of the views but for the life of me I cannot remember what it was. Any ideas?

Almost certainly, depends if there are any left when I get my finger out and book!
