Insurance asking for photocopy of driving license
Discussion
Hi,
Probably about to get flamed/trolled for this...
Privilege insurance have asked for a DVLA license share code which i have given them, and now they are asking for a photocopy of the front and back of my driving license.
Can anyone potentially confirm the possible reason why they need a photocopy of my license, when they have all the information via the DVLA share code?
I can only think of the fact they want a good looking photo of me on file.
TIA.

Could be many reasons, is it in relation to a claim or have you just taken out the policy?Probably about to get flamed/trolled for this...

You're more than entitled to decline however that makes them more than entitled to cancel the policy or decline the claim (depending on whatever it is they're dealing with)

I'll probably have to do it - but i can not think of one single reason why they would want this if they can access the DVLA share code.

It's unlikely to affect you in any way so if you're happy with the premium I'd comply, they have access to significantly more information than just your photo and realistically you're just a number and no one is likely to see it again unless you claim.

Phone them and ask why they want it? Cat
Thanks.

Identity check? can't you apply for a driving licence using your passport photo held on record if its within a certain time of it being issued within the 10 years??I'll probably have to do it - but i can not think of one single reason why they would want this if they can access the DVLA share code.

But wouldn't you have to show your face at the insurer's offices for comparison with the photo on the licence
Not if they checked it against your passport which most people have, as that has a certified picture?speedking31 said:

No, not had to supply a passport.
You don't need to. If the DVLA can renew your driving licence on-line without you submitting a photo, by using the electronic version of your passport photo that is on record, they can cross check you are who you say you are at the registered address on your licence.
