Immigration status changes for britexit
Discussion
Trying to find out for a friends father who's lived here legally 30 years from USA, somebody has told him there was a programme on Radio 5 mentioning that you have to fill in a status form by February this year or then fill in an 85 page document about their life, wanting to know what their grandma had for breakfast?
No info on web..does anyone know???

So it's 6 parts bureaucracy and 6 parts operator error in not filling the form in properly. But of course she turns it into a fking media dogst to make out something or other.
There's no way if she did it properly she'd be not given citizenship.
She could have handed in her original passport and explained her family situation.
Strange for the home office to see her passport after living here for 24 years. The Dutch consulate in London could have told the home office her status.
She has to renew her passport every five years in London.

It's not even that. She didn't send in her existing passport. (Since she needed it in the near future) then wonders why the process was rejected. And whilst I understand the need to do it in light of the referendum. She's still got 2 years to do this. (Though shes also had 24 years!) So why not wait until you can send your passport in as requested. When you need to replace your UK passport you have to send the old one back. It's not rocket science!

I agree, the application specifically requests a passport and it's even listed in the checklist, i can't remember the details of this case as I read the article a few weeks back, but if I remember she was applying for permanent residence?? Which you don't actually need to do, because after five years your qualify for permanent residence automaticaly even without having to apply, the only difference being if we scrap the EU free movement treaties it's easier to prove your immigration status by using the PR card, otherwise it's providing copies of bills, payslips etc So it's 6 parts bureaucracy and 6 parts operator error in not filling the form in properly. The application forms are not even that bad, most of it does not need to be completed and then when applying for British citizenship your current passport can even be expired.
Which was what the Uk immigration services told me when I was enquiring for someone.
