I'm in need of some help. I've tried to contact the uk department for pensions but so far they've been very little help and excruciatingly slow.

Basically I moved to Norway just over 3 years ago, as things stand I'm more than likely to be here for the long haul. Hoovered before leaving the uk I had 16 years worth of UK pension contributionscheme. What is the situation with these? Have a lost them? Can I still collecting ribute to them and take them when I reach retirement age I'm not sure ands there's so much conflicting information about andmdround I just want to get clear on it ass I've just this week set up a private pension here.

I reckon that the best advice for you, especially as you're outside the UK now, is to contact The Pensions Advisory Service (TPAS) and ask them to try and trace your pension. There are several tools available and they have lots of experience in pension tracing. From what you say I suspect that a trace should be pretty quick (many others can take a long time).

All of TPAS's services are impartial and entirely free.

You can contact them through their website here: www.pensionsadvisoryservice.org.uk

Or you can call their helpline which in the UK is 0845 601 2923. It will be different from Norway of course.
