Quite poignant actually. I was in hospital as the time of Senna's death having just been medevac'd back from abroad from being involved in a serious incident with the military. I was in the Army at the time. So i remember exactly where i was when i learnt about his death.

Couple of things i took from the clip...
1. Noise...where did it all go?! Good comparison is same sort of view from 2016 Singapore Grand Prix https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QupOXCYLqFI
2. It all looks like club racing. Lets not forget F1 has been the pinnacle of motor racing and back then it still was. But it all looks almost, dare i say it, amateur. The pits, the stands, how close everything is. A case in point, aside from the film quality, look at the difference in the clip above.

Reminds me to do a "cough" Kodi search for Senna, the film!

It may have been "amateur" but it was certainly more dramatic (ignoring the accidents, of course). What a gut wrenching visceral noise those cars made.

Wow. Fans on the track while cars still circulate, jumping straight over the pitwall too! Love the safety car too - a targa top 348.

I would have loved to have gone to a race in this era, alas I was in my early teens and my paper round wouldn't have funded it.

Really does highlight how much of the thrill has been lost in modern F1, those V12 engines... just wow.

Definitely the major thing I picked up from the video was how easy it was to see the different drivers and teams and happenings.

Looks like a completely different world back then and a much better one with the sound and sponsorships.

I went to Imola the following year. I'm so glad I did. The other factor that made it memorable was the Italian fans.

It's when you see and hear raw footage like that, that you understand why F1 is declining in popularity.

That's the interesting thing, that 348 wasn't the safety car. It was a new thing back then and they didn't really understand how to use one effectively. The safety car was a Opel Vectra A turbo (cavalier turbo). 1.5 tonnes of 200hp. One of the aspects of that weekend was they realised they needed a faster safety car because the race cars were struggling to go that slow. Within a few years thry were using big engined Marc's and we had drivers on the radio asking for it to slow down a bit in the wet as thry were struggling to keep up !

The majority of the engines in that clip were v10, the Ford was v8, only the Ferraris were v12.

Incredible footage, certainly brings it all back.

I sadly saw Ratzenburger's accident live (on tv) and remember his head slumping to the side and fearing the worst, in this video I think you see Schumacher mimicking that when he gets back to the pits.

Also poignant given what subsequently happened to Alboreto and Schumacher himself.

Testing at Imola in early 1994.

Hearing the cars full chat after Tamburello is just so cool.

Amazing noise.

A few thoughts

Those V12 Ferrari's sound the freaking business.

It is amazing how quickly the cars are passing Lehto's stricken Benetton from a standing start.

Sorry to be morbid about the footage of Senna in the first video - I will never not find it eerie to watch someone you know won't be long for the world

The Ferrari V12s used to quite literally hurt my ears when screaming down the straight at Silverstone...moreso than any other F1 car. The others were still uncomfortable , but those particular ones were next level and glorious.
There was a good reason I used to wear earplugs!

Sad now that you can hear people next to you talking over them frown
