Very very long.

Very very narrow at the back.

Scrap the 2017 cars and get Williams to produce 20 of these.

The Merc certainly looks better for not having a huge shark fin.

Are Merc having a drive on flogging estate cars this year?!

I think they look like the F1 version of the WEC cars. They have been utilizing the big advert board on the back for years.

They are taking their official launch lightly as their twitter feed is posting photos from the shakedown.

I think that's called confidence.
Apparently Merc have made a significant step on the engine as well.... if true, they're going to be the ones to beat again.

Yes the Force India is not the best looking F1 cars seen so far but considering the money at their disposal and the way the team have been performing the last 5 years I really hope the car does get into the top three this year.

A team we really should love considering the amazing job they do year in year out.

Well I am underwhelmed so far. They said the cars would look more 'aggressive' and racy but to my eyes they look limosine like and rather ugly. The other thing is they look so damn big, I do wonder if wheel to wheel action will be physically possible on some of the more narrow and twisty circuits.

Merc are bragging about the gains they have made over the winter, Red Bull are suggesting they think they will be competitive *if* Renault deliver and the rumours are that Ferrari have fked up their design in a major way (what else is new).

So right now I am not feeling overly optimistic about the upcoming season but I will be happy to eat my words if I am wrong and it turns into a classic season. I really do hope I am wrong, I do not want the whole season to be about Lewis Hamilton spanking the st out of Bottas and winning every race by 20 seconds.

Ferrari have to deliver a sexy car as its the brand, doesn't always work out but if the years F1 cars look ugly Ferrari generally are the least ugly. It must be tough trying to deliver a sexy car these days in F1 if nothing else because the cigarette branding helped create iconic looks to cars.

That williams is a beaut, but its inescapable that the reason it looks so dashing and iconic is the flash of camel yellow and the cannon logo.

What?!
Ferrari have designed and raced some absolute horrors in their time. They don't race the cars to look sexy, they race to win, and try as hard as all the others to max out marginal gains in questionable areas.
And whilst there is no doubt ciggy brands had a long history and therefore had 'iconic' colour schemes, in no way do they 'make' the car itself unbranded iconic.
Or to put it another way, would you prefer an ugly car in Marlboro colours or a gorgeous car in Lambert & Butler? hehe

In all seriousness - are the cars wheelbases longer?

I think it's just an optical illusions caused by the lower rear wings and their shape

Why DO the cars have to be so huge? No wonder drivers have a hard time overtaking the traditional way. How the hell are you supposed to see the extremities?

Here's how to neatly package a driver, a 1.5 engine, gearbox, cooling and fuel for a full race distance:
