Exactly...

The white on the car in the picture is to represent Honda's corporate colour...
What that thin stripe? really? and the black represents what?
Their mood.

It's a pie chart

Orange - We are "mclaren" whatever that means. The future! - hence at the front

Black - Ron is at the back end of his career with us. In fact he's history but he still owns a hefty chunk of the buisness

White - Honda's contribution to current success thus far

With all of that orange, it is a bit Trump-esque...

The mclaren has very small upper air intakes compared to the other cars. That points to Honda doing something different to the other power train suppliers.

Mercedes running a double wing? What the hell is that for? Comes up off the engine cover just before rear wing
Classic FIA, they wrote the new rear wing regs but forgot to remove the old rear wing regs...So we now have these extra wings.
The Ferrari has one too. Attached to the end of the fin

none, some or all of that detail could be duff though right?
complexity where it's not needed, holes where they're not needed, wings where you won't have them....just to put the others off the scent...

It will be interesting to see how close to final these release shots are...
out of interest, how did all of last years launch cars look compared to the ones that raced at austraila?

I wish they'd just fully committed to the orange. Might have looked less of a dogs dinner then

If the sport wasn't just in its own bubble and could attract large sponsors again we'd bet some nice liveried cars once more. As that's not the case let's at least hope the racing is close. I've still got high hopes of the Red Bull being a good looking car though, so far my 2 favourites are Sauber and Renault.
Large sponsors ?

Like:
SAP
UBS
Allianz
Petronas
Philip Morris
Shell
Tag Heuer
Siemens
IBM
PPG
Telmex
NEC
CNN
Qualcomm
AT&T
Santander

Wasn't it said somewhere that one of the small sized sponsors on the McLaren were paying the same as Martini were for the title on the Williams?

As there will be iterations, let's wait until we see them in Albert Park.

Did look a room full of atmosphere!

I was lucky enough as a normal fan to win a golden ticket and be part of the audience. From Andrew Benson's (BBC writer) tweet pic below, I'd say 1/3 company (left), 1/3 press and media (centre), 1/3 fans and winners (who were the lot on the right taking photos).

With the launch itself, followed by a great tour of the Technology Centre and then lunch with a brief driver visit, was a fab day out. Spoke to James Allen in the queue who I have been listening to for years, and even excited to spot the various team members I've seen on TV over the years. Great fan outreach, and we'll see if the "no promises" expectations can be beaten.

My photos all seem to add upside down - so will try add a couple more later...

Sorry to make a positive post in an F1 thread, but I think that looks bloody stunning!
Apart from the HR Giger inspired front wing and sidepod adornments, maybe.

A photoshop of the new cars without all the tacked on fins and wings and random aero would be interesting.

I have a sneaky feeling it might look quite good all smoothed off

Why haven't front wings been limited like the rears? - these front wings are far too complex and fragile - a simple dual-foil shape should be mandated to try to limit the impact of running close to the car in front.

And how many of those have a large presence on the cars? A small logo doesn't make a livery.... I typed my post quick but it doesn't take a huge step to get the point being made...
